What are the best methods for cleaning mud off of boots ?

Hello and Thank You for answering my question!! I work a security job where I wear leather material police style boots made by Bates. Part of my duties includes walking around the outside where it is muddy due to the soft soil. I always found it to be a pain to clean the boots quickly of the mud / debris that accumalates from my patrols sooo I would appreiciate any method / product sugggestions ( with the links ) that could help me quickly clean the boots with out ruining the leather. Thanks!!

What are the best methods for cleaning mud off of boots ?
Once you have cleaned off all of the excess mud and grime with plain warm water and a few rags, you need to spend about 20 minutes on each boot with shoe polish and some old t-shirt material building up a good polish base on the boot. Just keep rubbing it in. After you have a good polish, use a horsehair boot brush to give it a final shine.

You will never get them to be maintenance free, but subsequent cleaning will be much easier and faster.
Reply:Dry the mud then scrape off the worst. Clean with soap made for leather; and polish with oil, the next time the mud will not stick to the oil, or at least not as bad.
Reply:Iwould let the mud dry and then I would brush off any debris

left on, washing thoughly with a leather soap , let dry then wax

boots with boot wax, it might prevent buildup. Hope you good luck!
Reply:I would take the out side hose and with water warm.
Reply:leave the mud to dry then brush off with a soft brush. Use saddle soap to clean your boot´s this will keep the leather soft and shiny
