A question for vegetarians! How do you feel about leather products?

Would you wear leather shoes, like birkenstocks, or cowboy boots?

Would you buy a leather wallet, hand bag or belt?

Just wondering..

Thanks.

Belt that I was wearing today wasn't leather - don't even KNOW if I have a leather belt to be honest......

Got some leather loafers that I have had for - I don't know how many years that I still will wear. Don't own any Birkenstock anything.

As to the cowboy boots - guilty - but then I live in Texas and not to wear them is almost reason to kick one out of the state.... But my cowboy hats are straw or felt - if that makes a difference. :)
Reply:never
Reply:it is almost impossible to completely avoid using animal. if u where make up or use ink pens most likely it contains animal blood. gelatin products and marshmallows are made from cows
Reply:no
Reply:no, i dont. i dont buy any clothing made from leather, suede, fur, animal skin, or hair. thats what changed my mind about Ugg boots. always check the label =]]
Reply:No. All my stuff is pleather or canvas.
Reply:I'm a vegan so I don't buy or wear leather. I do wear Birkenstocks though - they make vegetarian shoes too

Reply:since i recently became vegetarian, the ones i already have i will at least make good use of, and i will no longer buy leather things for the same ethical reasons i don't eat meat
Reply:i'd try to avoid leather as much as possible, but i don't care if my friends or family wear leather because it's their decision, not mine.

right now, i have nothing made of leather.

:]
Reply:I don't mind leather products. I think fur products are pretty tacky though. Depending on one's reason for not eating meat the answers vary.
Reply:I'm vegetarian, but not vegan.

I try to avoid leather products for the most part but I don't drive myself crazy about it. The shoes and belt I wear most of the time aren't leather; neither is my wallet, but I'm not sure about everything I own.

My wife is from India, and vegetarian. When I went to India, most of the people were wearing leather sandals, even the vegetarians. I asked somebody about that and I was told "the cows died a natural death." I thought that was a little hard to believe at the time, but I just let it go.
Reply:Certain things are fake but no I wont buy coach and stuff like that. I usually use man made materials. I have a belt but I dont think its leather. Its more like thick material. I have hammy downs when it comes to bags belts and wallets though because that way you dont waste the leather or cloth and theyre still nice. When Im older I wont buy leather couchs and stuff like that though.
Reply:I'm a vegan, so I wouldn't wear or use those items. I bought a pair of vegan Birkenstocks, and my other shoes are No Sweat Apparel brand canvas sneakers that are vegan %26amp; fair trade. My bags and wallet are all cotton %26amp; fair trade. I don't see any animal product as being worse than any other, so I don't eat, use, or buy ANY animal products!
Reply:one word yucki
Reply:No I do not buy leather products, but I do sometimes us/wear the leather I had before I realized how the animals were really treated to get that leather.
Reply:I didn't wear leather as a l/o veg and obviously I don't use it now as a vegan.

"Health vegetarians" may not mind wearing leather. It'd be rather weird to see an "ethical vegetarian" wearing it. Vegans are vegan because of ethics. They wouldn't wear it.
Reply:no man because those leather hunters make it into a sport and a business
Reply:Definitely not. If I don't eat an animal, I'm not going to wear it. That'd be kinda hypocritical... animal skin is a killer's trophy!
Reply:I'm vegetarian, and I don't have any animal products.

And yes, I check everything lol
Reply:there are plenty of fake leathers, alot of the stuff in the highstreet is fake leather you just got to check the labeling and stuff,
Reply:im only 12, and i KNOW im a vegetarian!! not that i can afford it, but i would never but leather stuff! i mean it feels so awkard at my one friends house cuz there like rich and they have real leather couches, its like, sitting on a cow, its, just , like, so wierd!! oh, and i dont but real animal fur stuff either. like, no uggs!! i wear bearpaws =] i never really looked into it, but i figured $50 boots wouldnt be real fur!!!!
