Why don't animal rights activists...?

...seem to have any problem tromping around in leather boots/shoes/sneakers, carrying leather purses, and preaching about how fur is inhumane? I'm not trying to be nasty to anyone. I'm truly curious.

Why don't animal rights activists...?
I've never seen an animal rights activist do anything like this, so I can't really say.

However, I am one. And I have no leather, or anything made out of animals and I am also vegan.

There are people who care about animals, (but just a little) those are the ones who go around preaching and yet they are hypocriates. And then there are people like me, and other true animal activists who are true to our word and aren't hypocriates.

It's the same thing when people call themselves vegetarian, and yet they still eat fish lol. Catch my drift?
Reply:I agree with the first answerer, I think they wear fake leather and furs. People who believe so strongly in animal rights to be activists are very unlikely to wear clothing made from animals.
Reply:Many of them actually wear pleather or faux leather. It's kind of the same as vegetarians wanting to stop killing animals but craving meat so they eat meat-shaped/flavored patties and what-not. Don't worry, though, I spent a long time wondering the same thing until I asked a friend.

Personally I'd focus more on the message than the clothes. If they're activists that talk as though animals are more important than people then their credibility is already suspect.

RENT Musical Halloween Costume help, anyone?

I'm going as Mimi from the musical RENT (her Broadway Out Tonight outfit (NOT the movie outfit. I have no intention of EVER wearing that)), but I ran across a problem. Boots, no problem (I'm covering a pair of knee high leather boots with giraffe print material to save myself $400). Arm warmers/ leather gloves, shirt, mesh shirt (it's under some Mimi's Out Tonight shirts), and hair stuff no problem. My problem is the pants, the things that she has on her knees (rolled up leg warmers maybe?), and the band around her waist. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could find these things, the pants especially? I was thinking running tights or even leggings, but I can't find any that give off that sparkle effect. Help is greatly appreciated! If you need pictures, I have SEVERAL, so e-mail me and I can send them to you.

RENT Musical Halloween Costume help, anyone?
i did this last year and i just bought blue tights at hot topic. they don't sparkle but it's hard to find cheap pants in that color. as for the band around her pants, i wore plack tights under the blue (which helped so they aren't see-through) and just rolled the black over the blue. i didn't do the kneee pads, but you could just take black fabric and kinda roll it up and pin it? it could give it that bohemian-no money look! lol hope this helps! sorry i have no pics of how my costume turned out to show you the outcome.

What should i wear to a friends birthday dinner outing,?
cardigan or cashmere sweeter, baby pink, bell bottom or boot cut jeans, ankle boots, and your nicest jewelry.
Reply:Black pencil skirt, cute top, red heels and a long peacoat. It shouldn't be too bad if you're in and out of the building. I live in Alaska and it's not that cold.

Dyeing shoes, and their soles?

ive just bought a pair of cream leather boots off ebay which i intend to dye black or dark brown. im planning to use a Dylon 'shoe and accessories colour'. my problem is that the pale boots have pale soles. they are made of what is called 'crepe' i think with a wooden wedge. (They are Destroy boots, for anyone who is familiar with this brand). Is there anything i can use to darken the soles, i guess i could use a woodstain on the wooden part, my concern is the rubber/plastic part. black boots with cream soles will look a bit odd!

Dyeing shoes, and their soles?
The crepe soles will absorb the dye, but they will not hold onto the dye and you'll be leaving little black bootprints everywhere. Don't worry about the light colour, the only colour real crepe comes in is pale cream. You can use a bit of your stain on the sides of the soles, which is done in shoe factories, but not on the part that makes contact with the floor. Your other choice is a permanent marker such a a sharpie which will last a while. But it won't be much of an issue for long, with age and wearing the crepe will darken naturally and they won't be pale colour after a few weeks. Oh yes, and lightly sand the wood before staining so the wood absorbs the stain. Trust me, I'm staining some wooden chairs and I could have saved myself a whole bunch of frustration!
Reply:If you're going to dye the soles of your shoes, remind me NOT to invite you round here to walk on my carpets ! ! !
Reply:Don't worry about the soles. Traditionally, black shoes almost always had lighter soles. Why, right now I'm wearing a pair of black shoes with brown soles. Don't dye the soles - I've tried this myself and it didn't work. It definitely won't work if they're not leather too.
Reply:Why did you not just wait until a black or dark brown pair came up for sale. Good choice of shoe BTW I like buffalo shoes they are mint.

I need help with a clue scroll?

the clue scroll i says headbang in the mine north of al kharid equip desert shirt leather gloves and leather boots

I need help with a clue scroll?
wear the stuff it tells you to, go to the mine and do the emote
Reply:I am pretty sure you are talking about runescape.

If you got the clue scroll from a lmao creature, you wont get nuttin that good. try the source. It tells all about clue scrolls.

Hope this helps.
Reply:go to the al kharid mine, wear a desert shirt, leather gloves and leather boots ( nothing else ) and headbang, then a man will appear with a breifcase, he will say something odd, maybe a riddle that doesnt make sense, and the give you a casket, and dissapear, then you open the casket and you will get another clue, or the reward - depending on how far through the clue scroll you are. Type in "treasure trials" into google and go on the tip.it one, it tells you everything about clue scrolls, from where to get them, to where to go when you get a set of coordinates. Also go to Runehq.com. Hope I helped.

Any girls on here ever been to Sturgis Bike rally?

i am looking to learn about it before i go this summer, my b/f has a sexy outfit picked out for me and was wondering if it was too much

(Black leather shorts, black leather bra, black knee high leather boots, and black leather collar with spikes and a leash.)

Any girls on here ever been to Sturgis Bike rally?
I have been to sturgis.

Your outfit is fine if that's the message you want to send.

you will be amazed at the broad and varied people who attend sturgis - there will be business men/women, big tough "biker" guys/women, lesbians, housewives, bankers, etc...

However, there is also a very dark and scary underbelly to Sturgis - as you walk deeper into the booths selling shirts and stuff, you may find some VERY racist people/items.

Lots of women show their breasts to strangers etc...

my suggestion, stick close to your bf and others that you know until you understand what is going on. There are TONS of people there - the vast majority are good people who just love bikes and the whole atmosphere.

anyway, if you want to go dressed as his "slave" or whatever, it will be fine and most likely go pretty unnoticed due to the multitudes of others in their own fetish wear. Remember, you can ALWAYS change your clothes if you feel uncomfortable.

Sorry if this is TMI :)
Reply:A leash?

Damn, even my dogs don't like those!

The rest sounds like it might be worth a look.
Reply:That's the same outfit I'll be wearing. See ya there.
Reply:Post a picture of yourself in the outfit ! ! !

Then we'll be able to tell you if it's too much.
Reply:Tell your BF to keep his bike locked up Very Well, I would even suggest an alarm.

Huge number of bike thefts in and around "The Black Hills Rally". Groups of professional bike thieves attend Sturgis and steal trailers full of bikes.
Reply:Stay at the Buffalo Chip and that outfit will fit in

actually nothing at all will too !!!

Any bikers ever been to sturgis?

my b/f has me and another girl going together and dressing us in a black leather skirt or shorts, black leather bra, black knee high leather boots, and a black leather spiked collar with leash.

and he is going to lead us on the leash in public, i am nervous but excited

is this outfit to wild for there, i have never been

Any bikers ever been to sturgis?
Well the leading with a leash in public is gonna turn a few heads..Even at Sturgis..People there are hard core bikers..They'll be dressed exactly how you'd expect a biker to be dressed..But you outfit prob isn't too wild..But that whole leash thing is funny..LOL
Reply:After reading your post I'm excited too!!!

Should I apologize/call first?

My boyfriend and I had a fight. We were about to go out for some Chinese food, and I was putting on a pair of brown leather boots. At this point he made the comment that sparked the fight. something like..."I won't go out with/be seen with you until you take off those boots..." I get angry and I'm waiting for him to say just kidding but he assures me that he is dead serious. So...I said that my boots and I are going out without him (still waiting for him to say something nice to make up for it) ...he keeps making comments about it. I yelled at him and told him to get lost until further notice. I feel like a total jerk for getting mad about something so stupid, but at the same time he was a jerk too. I wish I could show a picture of the boots because they are very cute (not cowboy boots) Please everyone let me know what you think of this situation...

Should I apologize/call first?
i mean if you feel that you should apologize then go ahead i mean it is kinda silly to argue over a pair of boots but why is it such a problem to wear the boots while you guys go out
Reply:He was being a jerk when he said that. But you fell into the trap by responding the way that you did. I know that it upset you, but you should have asked what he didn't like about them. As for whether you should call or apologize first, it depends on how soon you want this thing to be over. You can call and let him know that you don't want to fight with him. Sound like you're sorry. Then let him know that it hurt your feelings when he said that because you liked the boots and thought that they looked pretty. Hopefully he'll realize what a jerk he was and apologize to you.
Reply:i mean..i'm a guy..haha..so i would totally call first...and apologize..but i guess..u dont have to be a guy to call first and apologize

^^ i'm not saying that girls should call first..but..i guess its your decision on how bad u guys are mad at eachother.
Reply:Ok you should've asked him to explain why he wasn't going with you in those boots! Sorry but my man and I have been together for over 4years I wish he would say something like that, he'd do what I said and Like it but the key for you is to talk communicate that is the best way!!!!

What is the best video game to film adaptation(s)?

There have been many, but we are still waiting for that film which isnear flawless...

I'm partial to 'Resident Evil' (the first and best film) which features Milla Jovovich in a red skirt and black leather boots fighting zombies...(a film which was probably a fluke for Paul W.S. Anderson, as his other films aren't up to par)...

Another is 'Silent Hill' which comes a close second...(with another female protagonist--Rahda Mitchell--in a skirt and boots; as well as a female police sidekick in tight leather pants, boots, and gloves)...

'Silent Hill' was a bit much in the gore, and the story fell flat in the second hour....but hopefully the sequel will fix things.

Your picks...?

What is the best video game to film adaptation(s)?
In my view Resident Evil is the best ever.
Reply:thnx and good luck:) Report It

Reply:House of the Dead 2 was a fun zombie flick. So was Resident Evil: Apocalypse. I usually vote for the zombies, but I actually wanted Alice and Carlos to survive this one. I'm really looking forward to Extinction and am planning to see it opening night. Though it does kind of make me sad that Valentine's not going to be in it.

Silent Hill was unintentionally funny. They try to make Rose out to be a good mother, but she is the worst one ever. I am so going to see the sequel.

I really liked Mortal Kombat as a kid. In high school, my friends and I were still running around doing our Mortal Kombat poses. Yeah, we were weird.

My dad used to rent Street Fighter "for us kids" a lot. Same thing with the Mario Brothers movie. :)

ANH J: Yeah, I didn't like the first House of the Dead, either.
Reply:Mortal Kombat, the first one, was the best video game to movie adaption I've seen so far.

Ski packing?

my school is having a ski trip in two weeks and I just recently found out that we are going to do alot of snow playing, and snow boots are optional. I have no water proof shoes. I only have sneakers and leather boots, which the sellsperson said is water proof and can be worn in the rain. my mom is not really keen on the idea of buying waterproof shoes, since we spent big bucks on my other ski stuff. will wearing my sneakers be a bad idea? or vice versa for the leather boots?

Ski packing?
The leather boots will do fine, and they are better for your feet anyway.

They *will* get wet, even if it is just from sweat. What I do when I go skiing is to take a hairdryer that has a non-heating (fan only) setting. At the end of the day, prop your boots up and leave the hair dryer blowing into them for a few hours. This will work for your ski boots, socks, and anything wool, too -- just be sure that you do *not* apply any heat, or you will damage or even shrink the leather
Reply:I would take a pair of boots (timberland/cat: but a cheap pair) as these are safer when walking on the snow! they give you better grip. Sneakers won't give you that much of a grip and leather boots don't have that much of a tread in the sole of the shoe/boot.
Reply:There is a leather water repellant compound that we used on ski boots when they were made of leather. It works quite well, check with a sporting goods store, that has hunting gear.
Reply:Spend the money and the time to keep your feet warm. That would be the smartest thing you could do. Nothing is worse then your feet being cold. Do not count on water proof shoes or leather boots. While they may keep water out, they do not keep out the cold. If you will be playing in the snow much at all, get some boots that are rated for cold weather. Cold feet can ruin what would have otherwise been a fun trip.

I need dirt cheap horse show attire for one show?

After nearly 7 years of riding lesson horses, my parents are paying for my very first horse show as a graduation present. I need apparel to get me though this one show.

I have breeches, a lami-cell helmet, and I bought a Tailored Sportsman shirt on discount for $20 but I still need tall boots and a jacket. I have a pair of Devon Aire field boots that are a bit too short, and too wide around the ankle. Should I just wear them or get a pair of fake leather boots that are cheap but look nicer?

I need dirt cheap horse show attire for one show?
The fake leather boots aren't comfortable to ride in, check out Ebay and your local paper to see if there's any for really cheap. I know you can get a jacket and if you can't find any boots on ebay then wear yours, but your overall picture and show results will be better if you present a neat, well attired appearence. of course if this is just a small local shows yu should be fine!

I wear an 11 so it is harder to find boots for me too...like I said, at least find a jacket that fits nicely, if you can find one on ebay in your size take it to a seamstress and get it altered (like $20) so that it fits nicely. you have a pair of boots that you can wear, but if you find a nicer pair that would be nice but the pair you have should be fine.

Reply:You could get a pair of half-chaps that could be used for more than one show and for the jacket, i dont know where you live, but in Maryland theres this nice place called Everything Equestrian and they have a website too. Good Luck!

Vegan Doc Martens?

I really want combat boots, but the problem is im a vegetarian, and wearing leather boots in my opinion is disgustingly hypocritical.

I also work at tthe body shop, adn you arent allowed to wear leather there.

Does anyone know of combat boots, or doc marten types that are made of vinyl or whatever ?!

Thanks .

Vegan Doc Martens?
According to the Doc Marten website, they longer make any styles that are leather free.

Here are a few site that sell vegan boots. They can be a bit pricey, but good on your conscience. You could always try cheap shoe places like Payless, and look for ones made of Man-Made materials as well :)

What is the sexiest outfit you ever wore for your partner/lover out in public?

the sexiest outfit i wore once was a leather shorts and leather halter top, fishnet stockings, knee high leather boots, 2 inch wide spiked collar and leash to a mall one day so i could be shown off by my biker Master

What is the sexiest outfit you ever wore for your partner/lover out in public?
A batgirl costume cant wait for an excuse to wear it again
Reply:why in the world would u wear that out in public? My man likes me to be classy and leave a little to the imagination. One time I wore this cute yellow summer dress, but I didn't wear any underwear, so while we were driving, I took his hand and put it between my legs, (just so he would know)

THATS sexy and still lady like for the public eye
Reply:I have this blue sweater that is mostly see through and when it's worn with my lace lilac bra, it looks like I'm not wearing a bra. I wore that out to a club with my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time) and got quite a few stares. He loved it. Not nearly as kinky as what you described, but it was fun nonetheless.

Oh and I wouldn't call what you wore "whorish" as some people have stated. I guess they have never heard of BDSM?
Reply:Wow, sounds like you guys had a bit of kinky fun. lol...did anyone say anything?

I guess mine was a skimpy little black dress that was quite form fitting and only went down to mid thigh, shiny pantyhose with no panties underneath, and knee high boots with 4 inch heels. Got lots of looks that evening. lol
Reply:I wore a black cocktail dress that was VERY low cut in the front with black high heel strappy sandals. The dress was so distracting, the waiter had to ask me to repeat my order 3 times.

PS. There is a difference between sexy and whoreish. Your outfit is whoreish.
Reply:I wore a mini skirt with a bodysuit underneath and I didn't have any panties on underneath the bodysuit and I didn't close the snaps. Of course, it was warm outside and it felt very exhilerating and sexy, not to mention naughty.
Reply:A black latex catsuit, catwoman mask, gloves and knee high patent boots. It was halloween, a great excuse to go out of the house. Got plenty of stares though.

It was sexy %26amp; fun!!!!!!
Reply:The sexiest thing you can wear is something that makes you feel sexy and confident.

I think it's fun to dress up for my bf. Some things I wouldn't wear in public, some I would. Everyone should try it to some extent, whatever they are comfortable with.

You always pay more if you cant speak the language so for the 3/4 Leather coat: around $100-1000 if you can speak indo around $5-100 from a tailor

Knee high custom leather boots:

probably around the same price as the country you live

Ankle boots: same as leather boots. I have no idea where your going to get a horse saddle. the best place to buy prezzie for kiddies is around kuta(poppies lane 1-2) and the main shopping centers (discovery and the matahari both in kuta)

Is it possible to wear too much safety gears?

On a motorcycle? I want to be as safe as possible on a street bike since I'm a beginner. But would wearing too much work against you? Like make you feel less comfortable, and make it harder to maneuver? Because I plan on wearing a full face helmet, Leather Gloves, One-Piece leather suit while wearing Knee Sliders / Knee Pucks over it and Alpinestars back/chest protector, Leather Boots and a Leather jacket over all of that. Would this be too much and be too uncomfortable? Can you wear too much gear? I plan on getting a 2008 ninja 250r

Is it possible to wear too much safety gears?
make sure everything fits perfect and the main thing is that you're comfortable. ALWAYS wear a helmet, shoes, pants, and gloves. Safety gear can get in the way sometimes (in your case, yes i think it's overkill), but if you do go down, you'll be glad you were wearing them. and there's a pretty good chance you WILL go down, just a matter of when...

whether youre riding a ninja 250, a zx-14, or a 50cc moped, ALWAYS wear your gear. you probly won't need the knee sliders or the one piece leather suit just yet tho...
Reply:Sounds a little like your trying out for Robo Cop but better than not having enough you will find your medium somewhere

just rem drive safe it does not have a force feild around it
Reply:I was always told " Prepare for the worst, that way you'll never be disappointed". That scared the living **** out of me at first but I still 8 years later ALWAYS wear helmet, leather jacket, leather gloves( the more expensive ones with palm and knuckle moulded plastic protectors) and at minimum a pair of jeans. On short trips to the shops I wear all of the above and good lace-up boot( with the laces tied and put back inside the boot) but on longer trips I wear my heavy duty Kevlar wet weather pants and racing boots. Remember also check those mirrors, because the idiot in the car who will hit you usually comes from behind. Be pro active with your brake lights. Q-ride tought me 'lights on', which means you only have to engage the brake enough to hear or feel the brake light sender "click" on either brake to let the guy behind you in the four wheel drive that you are scrubbing off speed with your engine braking. I hope this helps. I also recomend for a first bike open ferring or road trail, mainly due to repair costs and they don't usually go past150km/h. The 2007 WR450 I own can do the commute to work and doubles as a weekend weapon.
Reply:too much gear is possible i had an oversized helmet for motor cross and I wore it one time and wrecked into a tree and hurt my leg (not my head) and at that point i decided until I could get a proper helmet it would have been safer in my case to take it slow and ride without the helmet. thats not something you can do on a motorcycle considering there are cars on a road involved, but my point is don't constrict yourself to the point where your movements are hindered
Reply:Yes, more is not always better. It will make your movements restricted, make you feel trapped, you will have less feel and control over yourself and your bike. If you're wearing a one-piece suit, there is no need to wear another jacket on top of that. I ride, and my gear consists of Alpinestars gloves and one-piece suit, Body Armour back protector, Infinity windproof top, Sidi Vertigo boots, and Arai Astro J helmet. And this is enough to make me more than safe-I came off in December when it was icy, and when I hit the deck it felt like falling on a mattress. I've also got a set of Rev It' waterproofs, and they're also good-someone slammed into me quite hard (their driver's door was bent, and they needed a new mirror) and I came out fine, albeit sore for a week. The only thing broken was the elbow protector. Ultimately, you've got to see what you're comfortable in and what makes you feel safe.
Reply:Are you sure you not planning on taking a trip to the moon? Just kidding...it's good to wear protection, but you definitely need to be comfortable. Wearing too much won't allow you to manuver the bike.
Reply:I would say that everything you have chosen will not be to much except you will only need knee sliders if you are planning on getting so far over in a turn that you are going to be dropping a knee, This i guarantee you, that you will not be doing anytime soon so you can lose them for now and it is not necessary to wear a leather jacket over the one piece suit assuming you buy a good quality one piece suit. Get one that is double and tripled stitched with CE rated armor and a minimum of 1.5mm leather. Knox also makes very good chest and back protectors I am not sure how they compare in price to the alpinestar. Dont just buy any leather boots make sure you get ones with armor in the ankle area. I have the 08 250R and its a lot of fun, inexpensive and good gas mileage. Be safe and watch for those left turning drivers. Practice your slowing moving driving in a parking lot it will help your coordination and multi-tasking.
Reply:It can be harder to maneuver when you wear too much, but more is better.

Summer you will get hot in all the gear but if wearing all of it is comfortable and can still maneuver than your good to go.
Reply:yes those gears get heavy
Reply:In the summer, all that gear will be hot. But hot as it might get, the first time you go down (because you _will_ go down), you'll thank God you had it all on. Digging road pebbles out of your leathers and being sorry they are all scuffed up, is infinitely better than digging gravel out of your arms, or your face, and hoping you'll heal up.

Regardless of how hot it gets, never ride without:

-Full face helmet

-Boots

-Gloves

-Jacket.

Leathers are nice, but a little warm in the summer, and not warm enough in winter. Still good for keeping your skin on, however.
Reply:Full racing leathers complete with sliders and pucks?

AND a leather jacket on top?

I have a job interview coming up and was going to wear this outfit that an old b/f told me to wear.?

to get the job.

red satin blouse, black silk necktie, leather haltervest, leather skirt, fishnets, knee high leather boots. leather bra, leather thongs.

it is a bikini type bar and he said the money is good but the boss is very perverted and likes to touch his girls on the interview.

would you ever go to the interview dressed like this?

I have a job interview coming up and was going to wear this outfit that an old b/f told me to wear.?
go for it, that is avery sexy outfit. if the owner is a pervert he will surely hire you. i am a female and i would just because you were so bold
Reply:If you already know the boss is perverted i dont know why you would wanna work there. That would get kinda annoying after a while if he keeps bothering you at work.

But if you really wanna work there anyway, I say go classy yet showin some skin. DEF lose the fishnets cuz thats just pushin it.

I would go in a sexy work suit. Like a blazer but with no shirt underneath, just a bra but have it buttoned only showin the bra a little with a skirt with the boots. But no fishnets, thats kinda trashy. Just my opnion though
Reply:First of all why would you want to wear such a sleezy sounding outfit to a job interview regardless if the boss likes touching the girls on the interview...that's sexual harassment and wrong...don't put yourself in that position..I personally wouldn't dress like that to an interview...but it's your choice.
Reply:That's a hot outfit and I'll bet you look sexy in it! I don't think I'd let my girlfriend go to an interview dressed like that but I'd sure love her to dress like that in the bedroom!
Reply:Um you can go to the interview like that if you're basically ASKING to be sexually harassed..
Reply:why would you wanna work somewhere where you no your gonna get sexually assaulted by the boss?.if you want that to happen just go the whole hog and stand on the street corner and sell your ***.
Reply:Absolutely not!
Reply:May as well just go naked
Reply:omg i wouldn't even go to the interview!!!
Reply:only if you would like to be raped for a few bucks an hour.
Reply:EWW NO! Don't even go to the interveiw that's so wrong!

What are your thoughts on this?

This is pretty self explanatory, I was selling a few items on ebay and got an email from a person I was selling stuff to who figured out what I was up to. She started emailing me and this is the reply I sent her

what can I say you're very perseptive. I have somewhat of a fetish for wearing women's black leather knee length boots inside my flat, nothing more than that. Its been going on for the last five years. I buy boots on ebay and then sometimes sell them on there as well. I think there is nothing sexier than boots, I'm not sure if its a power thing but I love to see women in boots as well as it always makes me think that they're in charge wearing them. So you're right its not really something I've ever discussed with anyone before. There is just something powerful and sexy about black leather boots. I bought those boots I was selling to wear at home but they didn't fit

I just wondered what any other women on here thought of this?

What are your thoughts on this?
I am a boot woman, but think that only confident women who wear them have the "power" thing going on, but that applies to sexy shoes too. Thigh high pvc boots give me a thrill when i wear them!
Reply:hmmmmmm
Reply:I never buy used clothes on e-bay anyway, and I'm always concerned about buying womens clothes from men.

Which is worest durning the holidays(iet hanksgiving christmas season and new years eve) - women only plz?
Seriously, hon, how many of these exact same questions are you going to ask?

Maybe you should learn to shop so that you are only buying clothes that will not stain. Perhaps you should learn how to properly care for a stain. Perhaps you should learn how to avoid stains.
Reply:Just don't eat.

Stuff your self before you get dressed so you won't spill.

And stay away from the kiddies, They are little stain magnets!
Reply:Please just give it up with the long skirt %26amp; boots questions.

Natural v/s synthetic?

I want to hear your views about the use natural products, such as leather. For example, would you buy leather shoes or one made of synthetic material?

In my view, I'd buy leather shoes because it's natural. Leather lifespan is up to +10 years compared to 2 years for synthetic materials. Also, leather is biodegradable. In 10 years, I can use 1 leather boot that will break down once I discard it, or use 5 plastic boots that have encouraged consumption and will take hundreds of years to break down.

What's your opinion? :)

Natural v/s synthetic?
Natural is not always good.

Cotton is the most polluting fiber used for clothes by a long way. Not only does it use loads of chemicals that kill thousands of people every year, it also uses vast amounts of water.

When things biodegrade, they do not just disappear! They break down and release methane (a green house gas that increases global warming) as well as poisoning the water courses around the landfill.

We need to look more into where things come from and how they are made rather than only focusing on things we buy and dispose of.
Reply:This is one hell of a question.

The way I look at it, is because it's natural, it can biodegrade and wont cause any harm to the environment.

However, synthetic materials, such as PTFE in plastics is much more useful, due TO the fact that it doesn't biodegrade.

I think that natural materials should be used to things such as clothing, as it's what humans have been using for thousands of years, but synthetic materials should be used to everyday necessities, such as shopping bags, as they are cheap to make, easy to use, and there is actually now safe ways to dispose of them (without sending a lot of harmful substances, such as CFC's into the atmosphere).
Reply:Nothing wrong with leather as it is produced from what would otherwise be a waste product- we're harvesting animals for food anyway so making use of the skin is a bonus. For most products, though, we use synthetics because it's easier and cheaper to make something from oil or coal than to grow it. The development of synthetics during the industrial revolution helped solve food shortages because land that was used for growing fibre and dye crops was freed up for growing more food.
Reply:Be careful about the all good phrase it is natural .Arsenic is also natural and I would not recommend it.
Reply:Sounds logical to me.

Is there anyone out there that knows what it's like to not be average?! I am 6ft 2 and female...?

AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I am so utterly fed up. All I wanted to do was find and buy a pair of black boots with a low kitten heel. My average height friends do this task with no difficulty. They’ll pop down the high street – go to the bargain basement and bingo – first pair they try on - a pair of perfect leather boots for £20. “Oh you are so lucky being so tall” they say. Yeah right!!! I don’t even bother looking at the high street shoes save the embarrassment of trying to stuff 2 feet the size of canoes into these miniature shoes. So I go online – arr yes – the wonderful world wide web. You can by a f****** star, adopt a f****** platypus, buy a Russian bride but can I get a pair of black f******* boots with a low kitten heel in my size – no sireeeeee!! Oh I can buy a pair of sexual fetish boots with a 10 inch heel thus making me 7ft in height. I am sure they’d go down well at work and be most comfortable traipsing around Tescos. Or I can go for a pair of flat boots that look like 2 oversized loaves of brown bread. You know – the granny ankle boot kind with zips. I am 36 not 96. I wanna be a bit stylish!! I am not asking for pink polka dotted size 10 ladies boots with built in foot warmers and a thermos flask compartment – although I did find a pair of those. It must have been 30 sodding websites I looked at. Combing through the pairs and pairs of freak shoes. Then the b****** site wouldn’t let me go back to my search page, then the page could not be displayed, then I lost my place and visited the same bizarre websites again, then I looked away from the screen and could still see pixilated freak shoes in front of my eyes. But then… at last… Eureka!!!!!!! I found the perfect pair!!!! Black – check – low heel – check – leather – check – price - £350 – ay? £350!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yes because all us tall women are absolutely loaded!!!! AGGHHHH!!!! And do you know what – for my height my feet are actually quite small!! In America all the shoe shops stock sizes for larger feet than mine. Why do the yanks get everything – I’ll just pop over there for a pair of boots shall I?

Yes, yes – there are many sites for larger size footwear – I found them all. But there’s no in-between – you either get 10 inch heels (like a 6ft 2 woman is going to want to wear those about town) or flat as a pancake loafer styles that are about as sexy as herpes.

Then to add insult to injury – I find a forum where I wanted to go for a moan but could not unless I entered my name, address, star sign, inside leg measurement, circumference of my left f****** nostril – and found this man saying “It must be tough being a tall woman” how understanding I thought. Then I read on – he said his girlfriend is 6ft but looks like a freak if she wears heels. What a ******!

So here I am – on Microsoft word – talking to myself – no one to hear or care. My only consolation was a packet of ginger nuts – and they were low fat! No chocolate in the house.

And yes – there are people far worse off – starving, without limbs, diseased and dying. Yes I would much rather be me with my long limbs and canoe feet but I am still a woman – with womanly needs – I love shopping, I love shoes, I wanna look feminine!!!!!!!!!!

So if you are short and tell me what a hardship it is for you having to buy kiddies shoes (available in the high street, cheap and fashionable!) I may just give you a piece of my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t even get me started on trousers, leg room, insecure short men and women, back ache, feeling un-feminine, low ceilings in olde worlde pubs, standing on buses, just wanting to blend in occasionally but sticking out like a 6ft 2 woman! Right – off to the shop for chocolate and the usual comments. It amazes me how observant these people are…

Is there anyone out there that knows what it's like to not be average?! I am 6ft 2 and female...?
Thank you, that is the funniest thing I've read on YA - not the situation just your take on it %26amp; wording - you should publish it.

I'm afraid I'm boringly average in most respects but loved your question so did a little research - are any of these any good?

Just be happy with yourself and get over the fact you are fussy about your footwear.

Stop moaning. No one wants to be average, and given the choice I bet you wouldn't change yourself. Everyone has their own problems and in the grand scheme of things yours doesn't seem that bad.

Be grateful for what you have.
Reply:I have similar problems just finding shirts and pants and I'm only 5'11. I'm thrilled that those "super long" shirts are in style because they'll actually cover my torso, most of the time. Then half the time the long pants either aren't long enough or cost twice as much.
Reply:Sorry, life is too short to read the question...
Reply:When stores fail you, like they often do, shop ebay. They have everything in every size. :)
Reply:I think you maybe exaggerating a bit, if you have never tried on shoes at highstreet stores then how do you know that they will or won't fit you properly? If you are a size 10 in shoes then I'm guessing that's a size 43?

Now I have found some websites but obviously stores will be storing spring/summer shoes rather than boots which are more for winter.
Reply:lol this was funny, have a good rant and treat yourself. Your not alone alone tho, im 5"9 and size 8 and sometimes its hard 2 find shoes.

How do you remove skunk odor from leather?

My dog decided to kill a skunk this weekend, and got THOROUGHLY sprayed. I washed him with the prescribed hydrogen peroxide/baking soda formula that's all over the internet, and he smells fine now, but I don't know what to do about his collar. Of course it has to be his designer leather one, and the one we got for his first birthday 12 years ago to boot. I don't want to throw it away, but am afraid hydrogen peroxide will damage it. Anyone have any experience with skunked leather? And please, no tomato juice recipes, I'm fully aware that those don't work except to mask it. I don't want a tomato-smelling dog.

I wash mine in the washing machine, and then let them air dry. It gets the salt out, leaves them smelling fresh and does nothing bad to the leather/suede/sheepskin, nor do they shrink.

If you were going to a leather bar, how much would you say a fair price for a shoe shine is?

i'm going to a leather bar this weekend and i'm told they have a pretty sexy boot black. how much can i reasonably expect to be charged and how much should i tip?

If you were going to a leather bar, how much would you say a fair price for a shoe shine is?
Been awhile since I've done that, lucky you. Ten bucks sounds right. Tip 2 or so.
Reply:To begin with, you would not wear shoes to a leather bar, you would wear boots.

Depending on the size of the boot (ankle? calf? thigh?) expect to pay around $10.

Of course, I realize this may be inflated SF prices . . . :o}
Reply:Just ask the price! I would imagine there is a price list posted somewhere also.I would also think $10 is fine or $20 including tip.It all depends on how large a boots you are going to get shined, short dress boots, like dress shoes,$10 is fine and a $5 tip.Knee high boots then $20 each..plus tip=$50.You decide,as tipping is in the eye of the beholder.

Man made or leather.. which is better in a knee high dress boot.?

Go to a specialty boot shop that will make any style leather boot to fit your foot. You will NEVER ask such a dumb question again! And, better yet, get the boot made in the softest leather they have that will stand up to the wear you want to give it. Your feet will think you've prematurely landed in heaven.

Man made or leather.. which is better in a knee high dress boot.?
the only bad thing with leather, the dye in it bleeds out into your clothing and socks.
Reply:I would go with leather.
Reply:you will sweat less in real leather.
Reply:Leather is always a better choice for a good fit. Synthetic will not conform to the shape of your foot.

Leather looks sexier, too.
Reply:All depends...

If you have ethical concerns about animals, man-made is fairly obvious. But then you *could* get into the environmental issues of the synthetic polymers that make up a "vegan" boot and the processes used to manufacture them.

If animal concerns are not part of the decision, leather will always fit better (though they may need some break-in), breathe, last longer, and, well...cost more. Everybody knows that in general you get what you pay for. This is especially true when it comes to leather boots...they're a little spendy, but SOOO worth it.
Reply:If you have no issues with animal products, go with leather!!!! Much more comfortable, will form to your foot and leg, more breathable, and looks better too!
Reply:I would go with man made - it will look just the same and it's a lot cheaper! Good luck!

Spilt petrol in car boot & now the whole car stinks. there is leather & carpet how 2 get rid of smell?

1.pour coffee grounds into several individual coffee filters and tie them closed. Place the coffee bags on whatever is harbouring the gas odour.

2.Sprinkle baking soda over the area and let it sit for a few hours. Then whip out your trusty vacuum cleaner to suck up the soda, finishing the job.

3. Leave a liberal amount of citrus peels in your car or trunk for several days (until the peels are completely desiccated). When you remove them, your odour should be gone or weakened substantially.

4. Vinegar. A bowl of white vinegar, left out overnight, can do a surprisingly good job removing gas odour.

5.Charcoal yes BBQ charcoal. There's nothing fancy or particularly aesthetically pleasing about charcoal in a bowl, but when you scatter some bowls of charcoal around your car (as long as you're not planning to drive), you'll find that it has absorbed the gas odour after about a week.

Try some of these remedies guaranteed..good luck

Spilt petrol in car boot %26amp; now the whole car stinks. there is leather %26amp; carpet how 2 get rid of smell?
The car needs to aired out, so that the smell is REMOVED not just covered up by something else that smells better.

Open the car up and stick a fan in the boot for a day to remove the smell.

A good cleaning couldn't hurt either to remove the gas.
Reply:Gas fume are explosive. Let it air out before placing anything electrical in it. Then shampoo the carpet.
Reply:Sprinkle some bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) in the boot (trunk) and maybe leave some newspapers with charcoal on it for a couple days. On the weekend vaccum it good and give it a good airing. Should be fine. The worse thing you could do is counter act it with cologne. The leather I would get some leather cleaner for car leather (or carefully use saddle soap for a light wash with a damp cloth).
Reply:i would have the car professionally cleaned. gasoline doesn't come out if upholstery easily. good luck.

Sportbike Leathers Sexy or Fetish?

I ride a sportbike and on long rides wear a Dainese 1 piece leather suit. It is practical and comfortable. I find enjoyment looking at other guys in their leathers but I have no intention of walking up to them and telling them "i really like your leathers." I am happily married and not gay and the thought of being with a guy is not even there. My wife knows of my fascination for leathers, boots, and light bondage. So my question is: why do I care about what another guy wears on his motorcycle?

Sounds fetish to me. If you aren't attracted to the people wearing them, I think you have a fetish for the object, not the men.

Boots.........?

Would you buy a kinky/patent leather pair to wear if your partner has a boot fetish?

Boots.........?
ABSOLUTELY!

Why wouldn't you????
Reply:Sure why not? Just don't wreck your style by wearing them out of the house. If your partner wants you to, just say "I'm saving them just for you!"
Reply:Absolutely.
Reply:Sure...or maybe I'd get him to buy them for me :) If they look nice enough, he might even convince me to wear them out.

Where can I get a pair of "pixie" or pirate flat boots?

I already have one pair of the new "flat boots," but they're pretty cheep feeling and looking (faux suede). I'm hoping to find a pair of black leather ones...any websites, stores...anything would be a help. Please don't just tell me to look at Macy's and what not...I've already looked there...no luck. By the way, I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg. Hopefully less than $100. Thanks.

Ladies ... I'm interested to see how many of you wear knee-high boots to work.?

Do you find boots comfortable to wear all day in the office environment, or do you take them off in favour of shoes? I recently had a female colleague who wore her black leather knee-highs 3 or 4 times a week during the summer months. Is she crazy to do that in hot weather, or does it show that she simply loves to wear boots?

Reply:I love to wear mine all the time too! They make my legs look hot!
Reply:I love to wear knee high boots myself. But in the summer months thats not happening. Thats when you let the toes out to breathe.
Reply:I love my knee high boots :) I wear them often....during cooler weather I'll wear them all day.
Reply:I live in my boots. I wear both knee high and mid-calf to work. I have these dressy boots by Ugg and they are soooo comfortable and very chic. Take a look:

How do I get the smoke smell out of nubuck boots?

I just won a pair of boots on ebay--but when they arrived they totally stank! They smell like cigarette smoke--and they smell up my house, too. I don't want to wear them because I am afraid they will stink up me and my clothes.

Is there any product or method for removing--not covering up--this kind of smell from leather? I need something that isn't perfumey or anything.

How do I get the smoke smell out of nubuck boots?
Sprinkle baking soda all over them and set outside for a day.
Reply:What I don't like about this anwer is that there is no way to get the baking soda off the boots after wards. Nubuck is halfway between suede and and leather--so it is soft and textured, and you can't get it wet. So covering them with baking soda just replaces one problem with another. Report It

Reply:You DO NOT use saddle soap on Nubuck! You'll ruin the boots. You buy suede or nubuck cleaner and use that. If the odor still doesn't go away take them to a shoe maker and have them re-dyed!
Reply:orange and cedar oils remove the smell nicely. In the mean time keep them on the porch.
Reply:Is it too late to return the boots for your money back?
Reply:Yes, go back online and choose a suitable product at:

http://www1.freewebs.com/browseforamazin...

You'll find exactly what you are looking for there.
Reply:baking soda
Reply:First I'd clean them with saddle soap to remove residue. Then if the smell still won't go away I would try febreeze lightly sprayed on boots. But the saddle soap should straiten out the problem.

Overall prettiest outfit suit dress or long skirt you ever wore with boots - for the women of yahoo only plz?
My best friend had her wedding at her parents farm in the middle of july. I wore a pink cami and a black lacey skirt, long with cowboy boots...everyone loved it
Reply:The boots are to my knees and brown leather. The skirt (A-line) rested right at my knees and it was chocolate brown courdoroy (spelling?). The top was a soft, lighter brown deep v-neck, no sleeves with pale yellow embroidered swirls along the v-neck. There's a band of material right under the breast line and the bottom edge is scalloped w/ the same pale yellow embroidered swirls. All I need for this outfit is a simple pair of gold hoops w/ a bangle bracelet. Very classy and sexy at the same time.
Reply:I wore a long tan A-line suede skirt , long sleeve off white silk blouse and tan suede vest with suede high heel boots with turquoise necklace and earrings to my father's birthday celebration in February. It looked sharp and I received a lot of compliments.

Tuck in or leave shirt loose with cowboy boots?

Hello everybody. I'm a guy that recently bought a pair of cool ankle lenght caramel cowboy boots with a harness buckle. I got some pairs of straight leg ripped jeans in light blue and grey. I'm just having issues on whether to tuck in the shirt of leave it loose? Because before, I used to tuck in my shirt. But lately after my friends advised me that I should leave my shirt loose. They said that it gives a much more relaxed impression about your style. Plus I hear that tucking in your shirt makes you look older. I don't know that truth behind this. Anyways, does it matter if I choose a collared shirt or non-collared shirt with the outfit? Would a denim jacket or leather jacket look cool with the outfit? I wanna look cool and trendy. Thanks for the help. Take care..

Tuck in or leave shirt loose with cowboy boots?
As I have lived in Texas most of my life, I've seen a lot of the younger guys (16-24) tucking in just the front of their shirt to show off the buckle, and leaving the rest untucked. I think it looks good, more of a trendy thing with western wear I suppose. Anyways, good luck!
Reply:wear it any way you want its your shirt.what ever feels comfortable to you

.
Reply:untucked, I don't think tucking the shirt will go good with the boots.
Reply:Non collared shirt and tucked in.
Reply:As a girl from texas..

I would

Listen to Laurie

Thats so hot.

Its casual...

But with the buckle. its like.

Ahh.

Cutteeee.

Hahahha.

Goodluck.

Cemi..
Reply:Loose, tucked in is not right at all. You dont want to look like some old cowboy
Reply:lots of good answers, but whats the point of buying and wearing cowboy boots if that is not the look you are going for?

Doesn't matter what kind of shirt you wear tuck it in, but wear a matching long sleeved shirt open and leave that un-tucked.

Then you have both options at all times.

....cya....
Reply:Definitely leave it loose. It looks so much better. Choose a collared shirt with a leather jacket and the jeans.

Totally Trendy
Reply:Long sleeved collared shirt, plain somewhat fitted t-shirt underneath, sleaves rolled up half way-yes! As far as a jacket goes, very basic brown or caramel leather jacket OR a really cool thin cordorouy blazer.

What's a quick easy way to soften and repair hard dry cracked workboot leather?

These are good old boots, but are starting to crack through in places. They are not suede, just plain black leather.

What's a quick easy way to soften and repair hard dry cracked workboot leather?
Give them 3 or 4 coats of petroleum jelly (let the seperate coats absorb into the leather before re-applying). I do this with all my new boots to soften the leather and help make them water-proof.
Reply:Easiest way to slow the cracking is to go buy some baseball glove conditioner - the same stuff used to break in a baseball/softball glove. Be sure to take the laces out and condition all of the leather, the tongue too - every square inch. Where you miss is where it will crack in the future.

The best stuff I used is from Kiwi (shoeshine product company) that contained Mink oil.

Lanolin is the next best product - although it may be hard to find in a cream.

Once you get the leather soft, go buy some baby butt wipes that contain lanolin. Simply wipe your boots periodically to keep them clean and soft. Only buy wipes that contain lanolin - anything else will dry out your boots and make it worse.

If you live near horse ranches, maybe look up Saddle Soap- I've used that to clean my gloves. Then put the conditioner on after they are clean.
Reply:i use mink oil.

What kind of autumn/winter jacket looks good with skirt and calf-length boots? No bomber jackets or parkas?

Bomber jackets don't look that good on me. Parkas look too baggy on me. Close-fitting leather or denim jackets that go past my waistline and end near the hip look good on me - in fact they are my wardrobe staples if I'm wearing a skirt (mini or midi) and calf-length boots, but I'm looking for an alternative look other than to always be seen wearing a leather or denim jacket. I also love wearing tights with this ensemble (patterned, knitted, bright coloured, etc).

What kind of autumn/winter jacket looks good with skirt and calf-length boots? No bomber jackets or parkas?
here are a couple of ideas:

2. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEXY-FUNKY-PURPLE-...

3. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MORGAN-Stone-Stud-...

belted jackets / coats will be HUGE this season :-)
Reply:I'd say a double breasted wool jacket would look good, one which reaches just above the hips. That's what i'm planning to get for the autuwn/winter.
Reply:I would go with a peacoat or a trendy trench coat. It might sound boring now, but trench coats are "in" this fall. Peacoats are more traditional, but still look good with almost anything. Hope I helped. You should be a knock out with either one!
Reply:What about a peacoat made of wool?
Reply:appear too choosy-see for yourself what is the best!
Reply:Additionsdirect.com have some great choices!

Maybe a puffa jacket, but a shorter one.

I have got a new pair of boots but they are too small, how do i strech them?

got some new boots they are size 3 i am size 4. i can get them on but after walking for a bit my feel start to ache. they are real leather, can they be strech? how? can i heat them up with, say the hair dryer and maybe they would strech that way??

I have got a new pair of boots but they are too small, how do i strech them?
Try getting someone with cankles to wear them for a bit.
Reply:Stuff them with damp newspaper or even better do you know anyone who is a size 4 maybe they could wear them in for you.

I wore my friends wedding shoes for her at work for 20 mins each day for a couple of days until they fitted her.!!!
Reply:If you can possibly bear it, put on thick socks (sports socks are usually good) and cram your feet into the boots. Wear around the house on and off - as they are leather they will stretch. Otherwise you could take to a cobbler and ask them to stretch them or buy like a wooden foot stretcher that will widen the shoe (you might be able to find them on the internet). You can make them wider but if you need them longer as they are a size too small you may be out of luck. Could you buy them in the correct size - perhaps look on ebay?
Reply:Take them to a shoe shop, one that does re-heeling, key cutting etc, i think the correct term is cobblers. well anyway, they have a special device that can stretch shoes, i had some of mine done and they worked really well. i would suggest you could take them back and get a bigger size, but im guessing your not completly stupid and would if this was a possible solution.
Reply:put wet newspaper in them and leave over night
Reply:You could try wearing extra thick socks to stretch them out or you could stuff them with damp, crumpled up newspaper and leave them for a few days I've heard that can help stretch them.
Reply:Y would you get a pair of boots that are too small? your smart. place a beer bottle in it, or go to your local shoe maker and ask him to stretch it for you.
Reply:it will sound crazy, but believe me it works! put some potatoes in there for a couple of days it will stretch them out and wala!!!

***the princess***
Reply:why not just take them back to the shop for a size 4
Reply:wet not soggy newspaper.......leave it to dry.

or wear with thick socks around the house, will soon give
Reply:stuff them with newspaper and leave them near a heater
Reply:If they are leather and only slightly too small, you can wet them, stuff them with paper or stretcher, which you can buy.

You could also buy a leather stretcher spray, at you local shoe menders or maybe Woolies or somewhere, not sure how good it is though.
Reply:You are really smart.
Reply:pack the boots with wet newspaper then leave them under a radiator to dry out when the paper drys out it will expand and hopefully your boots will as well
Reply:hi i do this all the time i give them to my sister who has a bigger foot then me and she wears them round the house she has them ready for me just in time for friday night
Reply:My tip is to stuffed them with some humide newspapers (not wet) and leave them for a few days
Reply:WHY did you buy boots that were to small then -
Reply:axe your f g toes off
Reply:Can't you get them in your proper size? I doubt it's doing your feet much good squeezing them into boots that are way too small for you.
Reply:Keep pushing damp newspaper into them, let it dry and then do it again. You have to force lots in though.
Reply:if they r real leather then put them in the freezer for one night and take let them become worm before wearing them, but smthing else don't forget to put them in a plastic bag before putting them in the freezer, i myself tryed it once, and it did worked, u can repeat it more than one time, good luck

Any way of Changing the color of a pair of boots?

I have a pair of dancing boots which are red. they are an old pair and i dont really care what happens to them and my instructor recently informed me that i need a white pair... he suggested we try painting them because we've both seen it done from red to black.

but if i were going to paint them how could i do so without the paint flaking.. because its really soft leather, or is there even a way of dying them?

or is this a losing battle and should i just buy a pair of white boots which are about 500 dollars :S

thx guys

Any way of Changing the color of a pair of boots?
you can die them or have them dyed. used a dye removal product first. Neither is very expensive. Try a shoe repair shop
Reply:I'd go Ebay and find some used boots, rather than spend that much on a new pair. Had you considered first spraying it with gray primer, then after it had completely dried, spray (or brush) it with high-gloss white paint ?? The primer paint is a bonding agent to minimize the chances of the top-layer paint from flaking and peeling.
Reply:paint? hmm..haven't heard that one but you can take it to a really good shoemaker or someone who does shoes and you can get it dyed...shouldn't be a trace of red on those boots =]
Reply:you can try using white shoe polish . I have done this before to my tennis shoes %26amp; repaint them whenever they need it. good luck

My husbands work boots smell like vomit!! help!!?

My husband has to wear a particular boot to work for safety. They are leather outside. They are treated to be water resistant. However, the other day at work he got into some bad smelling stuff (smells like vomit). He has lysoled them, but they still stink! He can't wash them on the inside because of the waterprofing. What can he do?

PS- he can't put them outside because someone might steal them and he can't get new ones because we can't afford them.

My husbands work boots smell like vomit!! help!!?
Tell him to stop throwing up in his boots. Just kidding. What kind of neighborhood do you live where someone would steal vomit smelling boots? Just kidding again. I too wear heavy duty work boots like your husband. I wear 2 socks for comfort. They are great. Wash all the socks. Make sure he puts on a new pair both every day. As answered above, baking soda can do wonders. Sprinkle large time and repeat each day. Make sure you empty the extra powder before your husband puts on his extra socks. You and your husband should be OK after a couple of days.

I must tell you that it refreshing (no joke) that a woman would try to take care of a husband instead of bitching.

God bless you. Do you have a sister?
Reply:either baking soda or odor eaters
Reply:Baby Powder which is also good for removing basement smells in books.
Reply:well you can try to spray disinfectent spray , then spray nice smelling good spray
Reply:You got a lot of excellent answers here! I would try them all and then put dryer sheets in them overnight.
Reply:like the other answers, use baking soda, also, try putting dryer sheets in his boots when he goes to work to reduce odor.

:)
Reply:throw them in the washer machine with bleach and soap. Add a liquid fabic softener in the rinse, it will help with the smell also.

Air dry them in the house by putting them in front of a fan, in the warmest part of the house. If he can walk through smelly water in them, the washing machine will not hurt them
Reply:Baking soda.
Reply:SOUNDS CRAZY, BUT, try charcoal briquets. The plain ones, not the ready lights. Charcoal absorbs odors. Try it, really, my brother tried all those other things and wasted his time. The briquets in his boots at night helped.
Reply:Clean them well on the outside and place them in a plastic bag in a cooler of ice overnight to remove the smell.
Reply:spray the insides with vinegar which will kill any germs then let them dry completely it should not harm the material. After completely dry use febreeze a couple times this will help dramatically!!! I have done this many times for dfferent shoes that got funky.
Reply:use baking soda,

put in boots %26amp; let it stay over night
Reply:apple slices, sliced thin place in the boots overnight will absorb the odor and leave a sweet smell
Reply:Sometimes it helps if you change the inner -soles. You can buy these in most super-markets %26amp; chemist´s.
Reply:You might want to try ...Dr. Scholls Oder Eaters in them...my husband works in garbage...so I know what you mean ...this helped us...so it may help you too.
Reply:a mixture of half cornstarch, half powder put in a plastic bag every night and close up
Reply:Yes you can wash them on the inside, when it drys the waterproof will still work, or afterwards you can spray on and in more waterproofer. Anyways after you wash them, with either dish or laundry soap, not through the wash just by hand. Then put baking soda inside them, and that gol bond foot powder if your willing to spend a few extra bucks to get the stuff, and musk, or baby powder works pretty good too. If it is the outside that smells, soak them in tomato juice, same way of getting rid of skunk smell.
