What boots should I buy?

I'm fine with Uggs, but if that is your answer, color, style recomendations? I wear size 5-7 woman's shoes. I am looking for a pair of boots, mid calf to knee, and I'd prefer a non-leather brown fabric or something.

What boots should I buy?
I'm also sick of women in Uggs and Wellies. I still think if you are going to wear a boot between mid-calf to knee, it needs to be leather.

My opinion aside...Steve Madden has some good styles to check out...http://www.stevemadden.com/category.asp?...
Reply:classic uggs
Reply:espresso color boots are very, very nice. Hard to find!
Reply:AWESOME! Same as me.I recomend Uggs yes.But a light brown kind of tancolor.Really cute!
Reply:You can get uggs at http://urlx.org/directtrack.com/94bab , all you have to do is fill out the survey and you will recieve them. My sister got her uggs from that site and all she had to do was enter in her email address.
Reply:i dont know about you but im getting tiered of uggs. everyone has them and i want somthing origional. i just ordered these boots and i fell in love with them the second i saw them. there cute and look comfortable.

Breaking in tall boots fast!?

Ok, I've just bought a new pair of Ariat Heritage Field Boots. My past ones have all been pull ons and I finally bought zips. Unfortunately, I've always had a while to break them in but now I need to ride in them this Saturday to try a new horse. (long story short: i went to check and make sure my old tall boots would still fit and they cut off my circulation --i haven't shown in months due to my horse's injury, blah blah blah) Anyways, my paddock boots have at least 5 holes each so those won't work (plus my half chaps are strips of leather held together by a few stitches!).

How can I break them in really fast. I am riding tomorrow (thursday) and then I'm leaving Friday afternoon and will see and ride Saturday morning. I'm scared to get them wet, though, like many people say. Will it damage my boots? (zips, etc.?) If not, how long would they take to dry? I'm trying out this great jumper and need these boots to be comfortable!

Help! And I need instructions! (so I don't mess up!)

Breaking in tall boots fast!?
Put them on right now and leave them on. Stretch in them walk around your house in them, do your errands/chores in them. If you do this everyday for as long as you can, you will be good by Saturday.
Reply:Getting them wet won't hurt...I knew this lady last summer who needed to break in her boots, so she soaked them in warm water until they got really nice and wet, then put them on and wore them all around her house until they dried. Now they fit her PERFECTLY, drop really nice in the heel, and she's never had any problems with them.

If you want to break them in that fast, I would have to guess that that is the only way to go.

Hope I helped!
Reply:You can't,well not if you want them to have a long and productive life....But yes I have to agree with the afore mentioned get the dam' things wet through and wear them...That can lead to blisters and all sorts of problems....You know it might be an idea to replace things before they are rags and tatters
Reply:Yea I got my tall boots the thrusday before my satuday show. I wore them to school for the whole day...(with covers on them) and then wore them while I was working at the barn, rode in them once. Put some stick tide on the inside to help. Also while you are in the car on the way there work on your ankles.
Reply:oh the good old days of breaking in high boots..

i used to put mine on (the good old fashion pull on's) and i'd wear them everywhere... to school under a pair of jeans, around the house, to the barn obviously.. any where that required shoes, i wore them..

have fun breaking in your new boots, and good luck trying out the new horse!!
Reply:DON"T GET THEM WET!

Instead wipe them down with leather conditioner. Also, walk around the house in them for awhile. do body lunges to flex the leather around the ankle and behind the knee. I feel your pain. I got my boots in on a Monday and had to show with them that weekend. :) Good Luck!
Reply:wear them! when your at home, wear them around the house. go against the wall and stretch your calfs with them on. it is best in the long run if you just break them in this way. by using leather softener you could make them too weak to hold up your leg while riding, it happened to me!
Reply:I know this sounds funny but put them on and wear them all around (in the house ect.) Then at night (if you can stand it) sleep in them. I do this every time I get new tall boots, and so do a lot of my riding friend. It really helps.
Reply:no water wont damage then but it will take them a day or two to dry
Reply:put on a couple of pair of socks and wear them. Its the only way
Reply:Well....ask your instructor...i dont wanna tell you the wrong thing...:)
Reply:I got a new pair of boots two days before a show, about two weeks ago. What I did was play frisbee in them! You should also try to wear them as much as possible. If you go out to the store, throw on a pair of sweatpants. Do NOT get them wet on the insides or you will ruin the leather. Until you get them properly broken in, wear a thicker sock so the folds you'll get at the ankle don't hurt too much.

You should also do stairs in them to get the tops broken in, right behind the knee. My zipper ones give me bruises because they don't break in as well where you need them to.
Reply:i have the same boots, and i didn't even need to break them in.. the leather is great [= i would just put them on at your house and walk around.. or vacuum (that's what my trainer had us do) they should be fine by Saturday if they fit you right.

it'd be hard to get the boots THAT wet.. I've worn mine at muddy horse shows etc. and not had a problem..

unless you get the insides wet, the water should just fall off.. boot leather is waxed/polished so that its waterproof... therefor it wont soak up water like a saddle/bridle would.
Reply:Lol this reminds me of when one of my dogs chewed my dress boots the day before Stuart Horse Trials three or so years ago. I called my best friend who owns a tack shop and harassed her until she got out of bed (at four in the morning mind you) and open her shop for me to buy emergency tall boots. I got the Devon Aire and i wore them all the way to the show, covered them with the rubber footie things walked around the course with them and did squats. I had blisters and sores, but they worked. Unfortunately you're probably going to be in pain....however you mentioned hunter riding, so it tends to be more about looking good than comfort anyway. Good luck.

Fixing cracked leather shoes?

I have a relitavely new pair of military boots, the day after I got them cracking showed through in all of the leather. This is my 3rd pair of bots in a month, and the CO's gonna muder me (or at least make me clean the toilets for the next year) if I ask for another pair. Is there a cheap, easy way to fix these crack with some normal stuff you might find on a navy boat? (please don't say go buy this or that...)

thanks!

Fixing cracked leather shoes?
I'm not sure what's normal on a navy boat, but I'd use some brown shoe cream and just work that in there after you've broken the shoes in.

Here's a thought; I always kept two pairs. If I was going to be inspected, I wore my nice pair that I kept shined and in a bag to protect it from dust. My other pair was immaculate (I enjoy shining for some reason, repetitive motion I guess) but I used them for day to day.

If you're on a boat, find some creme for the boots. It will take forever to work the stuff in there, and don't use a lighter to firebase with creme. Works with polish, not creme.

Take an old T-shirt (no sweat or grease stains though), start with a liberal amount of creme and work it in in wide circles. It will probably take four or five hours to get them looking perfect over two or three days, but the end result is gorgeous. Remember, you're working the polish into the pores of the boot, and be gentle with them.

Let me know if you need any other info. Good luck.
Reply:Oh are you sure there the right size ? If they are too big they will crack easy like that . I'd try melting a whole bunch of wax into the boots and using that as a base .
Reply:Are these working boots or parade boots? If they are working boots, you should be able to rescue them with Dubbin or a similar leather grease. Neatsfoot oil was the old way.

Are any of your mates' boots showing similar signs? If so, it might be a good idea to talk to the Pusser or QM (depending on which service!) about what is happening.

Leather jackets?

are leather jackets in this year.i see target advertising them. would go great with skirt and boots.

Leather jackets?
a classic leather jacket never goes out, especially if it is black and cut in a timeless style. Bombers, motorcycle, trench, or slim and tailored. I have a little black boys jacket that I put a hoodie under and wear with skinny jeans and high boots. Just make sure it fits properly in the shoulders and isn't cheap or synthetic!
Reply:leather jackets can never go "out" of style.

they look good with almost anything.

and why worry about what fashion dictates is "in" or not? its always best to wear what you want. if you like it and it looks good on you, buy it :)

Boots: What brand/designer is this?

My friend's mom gave me a pair of vintage boots: she bought them maybe in the 60s or 70s.

There is a little metal "CB" on the outside of them. Inside the boots it says either "Coltrab" or "Calfrab" (Can't really tell, it's cursive and fading...)

They are high heeled boots with a wood heel. They are slouchy and go up to my knees. Tan, italian leather.

Any info would be a big help. Thanks!

i know cavender's has been open for forever and there's another something like calbett or something

Waterproofing leather...?

So I am going to the beach and I want to waterproof my saddle and boots. No, I do not have a spare pair of boots that don't matter OR a synthetic saddle to borrow. So I was wondering if anybody has experience with Leather Therapy waterproofer or if they have a favorite brand.

Also I use a conditioner with beeswax and I was wondering if that would be enough to keep either of them from getting damaged.

I won't be in too deep of water and I am bringing a synthetic girth that I can rinse daily.

Also, I don't mind if it is a little slippery because I have Sadl-Tite (It's grippy stuff for tack that works really well).

--Thanks!! : )

Waterproofing leather...?
WHY would you put your saddle into salt water? Once you get salt into the leather, it's the kiss of death for your saddle.

It will corrode metal and humidity will draw moisture and mildew. In short, your saddle will be ruined. (there is NO way to get it out) Or were you thinking this is a way to a new saddle?

I live 11/2 miles from the beach, none of us ever rode to the beach with saddle or boots.

You're on vacation, why don't you ride bareback and bare foot?
Reply:Beeswax would be good to use for some protection. While it would be better to find something else to use - such as bareback and/or a pair of sneakers or sturdy shoes, if it is not possible - clean your saddle immediately after going into the water. Use neatsfoot oil to help keep the saddle soft. If the leather is light, use neatsfoot formula - this won't darken the leather.

The beeswax conditioner is good for protection before going into the water - the neatsfoot for helping keeping the leather in good condition afterward. So, after you go in, clean, neatsfoot oil, then beeswax conditioner before you go in again.
Reply:Hi-it's not actually a "per say" water repellent-but it works very well-it's called mink oil.

Make of men's boots in size 10?

The boot is like a wellie up to the ankle then material/leather just over the ankle and they lace up. They are like a work boot. I've looked in e-bay and done various search engines but can't find the boot. My other half is driving me mad as he is desperate for a pair of these boots and I'm trying my best. How should I weatherproof a leather jacket?

I bought a relatively expensive leather jacket the other day but haven't figured out if I needed to spray it with a water repellent. I was thinking about using my Footlocker Boot Protector spray which is for leather/suede/nubuck but I'm guessing there is a much better product for jackets specifically.

How should I weatherproof a leather jacket?
I just happen to have a can Of Kiwi Sport Rain and Stain Repellent sitting here. "Repels water, dirt and oily stains. Protects fine leather, suede, and fabrics including nylon and Gore-Tex."
Reply:There are oils you can use; I think Kiwi makes one.
Reply:I believe fancy leather stores and shoe stores sell mink oil which you put on the leather there are also stuff that comes in like a shoe polish can that is clear you rub on it.

Cleaning suede-effect leather?

I've got some sand-coloured boots that look %26amp; feel like suede but are made of leather, they're really dirty, I'm not sure how to clean them... can I just clean them with water, or will that damage them?

Cleaning suede-effect leather?
Pop into your local shoe repair shop , they will advise you on the best way to clean them . I think tou might need a special cleaner for this type of material.
Reply:don't use water!!

you need to send it to a leather cleaning specialist. usually, you can't send it directly to them so you have to send it to a dry cleaners. cleaning leather/suede is pricey tho!
Reply:IF they are kind of like ugg boots maybe this will help...

Steps:

1. Use cold water to lightly moisten the outside of the boots only. Do not submerge them in water.

2. Dilute a cleaner appropriate for leather to form a solution of one part cleaner and one part water.

3. Apply solution to a wet sponge and gently clean boots' outer surface. Rinse with clean sponge dipped in cold water.

4. Stuff boots with paper towels or newspaper to hold shape and dry out of direct sunlight or direct heat. Direct sunlight or heat will cause shrinkage.

5. Brush boots with a suede brush or lint-free towel to restore the nap.

6. Use a mixture of 2 tsp. baking soda and 2 tsp. corn flour to deodorize and soften the inside of the boots. If you wish, you can add a few drops of an essential oil to create a sweet scent. Shake the mixture into the boots and let it stand overnight. Shake the excess out the next day.

Overall Tips:

Cleaning and protection products available from Ugg include Ugg Sheepskin Cleaner and Conditioner.

Apply a water and stain-resistant coating to the boots to minimize stains and dirt, such as Ugg Sheepskin Water and Stain Repellent.

You can buy replacement insoles for Uggs - some of them washable - so if your boots have an odor problem consider replacing or washing the insoles.

Sometimes the boots will shrink slightly after washing. This is normal and you can expect them to stretch back out when you wear them.

Overall Warnings:

Never put Ugg boots in the washing machine or dryer.

Has anyone ever worn leather pants or a collar to a college class?

i have a b/f that wants me to wear leather pants and a collar with a white satin dress shirt and boots to my college at least once a week. i would love to but am afraid that i would be an outcast and not seen as a serious student

i would like advice from those who have worn these so i will know what to expect when i do wear it?

Has anyone ever worn leather pants or a collar to a college class?
You would NOT be seen as a serious student, but then again how many of your peers really are serious students.
Reply:I don't wear leather, but I have worn a collar and dom boots to class before. Granted, as a female, I got a different reaction than you'd get. I'm GUESSING you wouldn't be outcast for it, and any professor worth their title shouldn't care as long as you properly do your work. That does all depend somewhat on how liberal or conservative your school is, though.
Reply:When I worked at LSU, I would see guys wearing club clothes - including leather pants - to class now and then. They didn't seem to get much grief about it. At least not obviously. I guess it depends on which college, though.
Reply:why is your boyfriend dictating what you should wear?

wear what you want.
Reply:I wear leather skirts %26amp; pants to class all the time, but then again I'm a biker %26amp; everyone knows it lol but I don't know why anyone should have a problem w/ it.
Reply:i wear leather pants(trousers)or pvc regularly,i woudnt worry about what others think,at least your being individual and not following the crowd, colleges are usually pretty tolerant places anyway,so go for it!
Reply:I wore leather pants to class all the time, in high school and grade school (yup, grade school). Big freaking deal.

My best pal in college wore his collar to class all the time. I think people were more intimidated by the fact he's over six and a half feet tall.

Wear what you want, a serious student is someone who does their work. It's got nothing to do with their clothes. An outcast wouldn't have friends to be concerned with, and probably not have a boyfriend either.

How do i save my boots?

I wear my boots every day, all day, there usually about $60 or more and are quite comfortable. However since i wear them so frequently and in various activities i end up wearing away the cloth back by your Achilles tendon, just above your heel where the hard plastic or leather scrapes and irritates, Making me need to buy new boots about every 7-8 months. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you

How do i save my boots?
Hi

You can get them mended. Shoe menders the places that re heel shoes can also repair the insides too. It would safe them - just go and ask and they will give you prices etc.

However $60 every 6-7 months isnt too bad if you are wearing the shoes all the time! But def take them to the shoe menders they will be able to mend the insides for you and should keep you going for a good while!

How do i fix scuffed boots?

I recently bought a $200 pair of boots and have worn them twice. The are dark brown and i have scuffed the tips of them and they are white now. What is the best way to fix them. Should i have applied some type of leather protector first? Am very bummed as they are great boots and i feel i have wrecked them now.

How do i fix scuffed boots?
Get shoe polish and try to fix it. if that doesn't work, (this is going to sound so cheap, but it works for me), get a dark brown marker. Color in the marks, let them dry. Then put more shoe polish on it. make sure you start putting leather protector on it so you can save the remains.
Reply:Don't try to fix this yourself. Take them to a good shoe repair shop. They have dyes and other methods to fix this. You'll be amazed at how good a job they can do with this, and it won't cost you all that much to have it fixed.

I don't know if any kind of protector will really work. Ask the shoe repair guy.
Reply:go to shoe repair store
Reply:shoe polish
Reply:Get some mink oil .Usually is displayed around shoe polish in the store. Put some on area with old toothbrush. Then buff the tar out of it. You will be amazed and it will also protect boots from more scuffs

Also, what I did once, was find a pair of decent shoes you like, take them to a shoe repair place and ask them to add rubber layers. This will turn them into platforms/boots. I alternated each layer black/ whie, and wound up w/ a totally unique pair . These places can do wonders you might not have expected

It sounds like a New Market boot, which is the summer version of a field boot. The cloth is to help cool your leg.
Reply:The shaft of the boot is supposed to be thin so you can feel the horse, and vice versa. The shank is rigid to give support. If they have laces and are 6" high, they are probably paddock boots.

Mold on leather shoes in walk in closet?

My walk in closet shares the back wall with our bathroom. I have checked the walls and corners many times for wet areas and have found nothing. Almost all of my leather shoes, no matter where they are have mold on them. I have tried getting a shoe rack that sits up off the floor, but still get mold. I never put any wet laundry in there, and there are no leaks. I keep the door closed because my cat chews up my leather shoes if she can get to them, especially my boots. Do you think it is just trapping moisture from the bathroom and holding it? Any suggestions?

Mold on leather shoes in walk in closet?
Probably moisture trapped in your leather shoes be it from your sweating in them or you walking in inclement weather. You put them in the closet, They're moist, they sit in the dark for a while and Voila! You have the perfect medium to grow fungus (mold). I'd just make sure your shoes were good and dry before you store them for a long length of time in the closet.
Reply:I have a funky closet, too. I tried one of the closet humidity bags that was supposed to last 3 months, it filled up in 30 days. I solved the problem by leaving the closet door open during the day while I'm at work and the AC took care of the problem. Buy shoe racks that hang from the bar to get them off the floor and kitty won't bother them. They have some really cheap at IKEA.
Reply:Sounds typical. You need to get rid of the invisible spores.
Reply:yes it is from the bathroom and the answer is put a heater by your closet door and the heat from the heater should keep the dampest out of the closet there for no mold

What to wear with shoe boots?
Ahh Shooboots... I am genuinely addicted to those things.

I'd say you can definitely wear them with everything! I bought the black version of the ones in the link provided, and I usually wear them with cropped trousers or a mini skirt and footless tights (It's still to cold to bare any skin!), but I think it's down to your own personal style. Wear what you're comfortable with!

And keep on championing the shooboot! ^_^*

Pant legs inside or outside of goth boots?

I'm looking to buy some tall goth boots for the first time. Can anyone tell me, as a guy, is it recommend to have th pant legs inside or outside of the boots? Typically I'd probably wear black vinyl, leather, or black jeans. Any opinion would be great!

Pant legs inside or outside of goth boots?
hmmm.... if you're in a showy mood, tuck, but when the principal comes, or the boss, whatever, or you wanna be modest, then have them out, but hey, I like them tucked and blooming just a little over the sides (think pirate) enjoy your new shoes.
Reply:hhahaah just read that question...it's so funny.

good luck man...i'd say tuck
Reply:Hmmm outside if the boots still show but

Inside if the pants are long and the boots dont show.
Reply:Tuck them in, but make sure you're wearing pants tight enough that they don't look ridiculous tucked into boots.
Reply:OMG outside. It will look pretty weird if it were tucked in.
Reply:Avoid tucking pants that aren't tight to the leg. Pants that balloon over the top of the boot look bad.

How do I repair cracked leather on shoes?

I havent had these boots for very long. But I noticed on one that the leather on top is starting to crack, whereas the other boot is fine. I would love to salvage the cracked areas. Is there any hope or is this a lost cause? Time for a whole new pair of boots?

BTW, I've already taken them to a shoe repair place. I've also tried mink oil and leather lotions, doesn't seem to help. Should I bother with that stuff called saddle soap?

How do I repair cracked leather on shoes?
now-a-days its cheaper to just buy a pair of boots
Reply:Just answered this in depth....answer was lost...bummer. Anyway..saddle soap yes....bees was works good also..put lots on and give it a good buffing. Vaseline also works well..and its super cheap..stay away from the aerosal sprays...too many additives and they stink!

Slouchy Boots?

I am looking for a pair of slouchy boots, knee high (ish), and no heel. I want leather or something like it if possible (other materials get scuffed up easily) and maybe under $100. Black, Blue, Brown, a crazy color or pattern... Thanks in advance!

I had a very good reaction

Do quality cowboy boots have a thin rubber heel piece that meets the floor?

l purchased a pair of cowboy boots in Cozumel, Mexico. They are real ant eater leather and have a leather heel and are very supple, BUt, they also have a thin rubber heel piece that meets the floor with the rest of the heel being leather. l was told this was normal. Only l am used to seeing a full leather heel, as a friend of mine has an expensive pair of boots and you hear him when he is walking on a hard surface. ls this rubber piece normal? l paid 200.00 U.S for them. ln the back of my mind l am telling myself l got ripped. Feedback anyone...

Do quality cowboy boots have a thin rubber heel piece that meets the floor?
The black rubber piece is essential to safety when walking on wet surfaces. The quality of the boot is in the overall construction. When I purchase boots I look for all-leather (or whatever skin) construction with a leather sole. I have never concerned myself with the rubber piece being the deciding factor in quality of the boot. In fact, I have had soles and rubber piece replaced on many boots.

To compare prices and styles of boots try cavenders and shepplers on line stores.

Reply:That small piece of rubber on the heel will help keep you from breaking your neck when you walk on wet surfaces. Trust me, I've made a fool of myself quite a few times wearing boots without the rubber heel guard (it's funny now, but wasn't way back when)!

Can I wear an eggplant purple dress with dark brown boots?

and a rose-coloured scarf. I'm saving up to buy a pair of black boots. Could I get away with brown leather heels if, say, I wore gold earrings. I have dark brown hair, and pale skin

This is the dress (in "eggplant") http://store.americanapparel.ca/rsa7305....

Can I wear an eggplant purple dress with dark brown boots?
Yes brown and eggplant go together , just loose the rose scarf, it'll be too much color. The gold earings will go perfectly too.
Reply:An eggplant dress and dark brown boots would be adorable! Pair them with some gold hoops and there's the perfect outfit. Black boots and the scarf might clash. You should always stick to one or two color families in outfits, no more. A good Idea for the black boots and scarf, would be to find some great jeans and a black top. Combine the four and there's another perfect outfit. Good luck!

Help! Pole dancing boots, PU or Patent?

Ive heard arguements for both...but anyone know wether patent leather is significantly better for grip?

Absolutely love these boots...http://www.exoticdancewear.co.uk/categor... .

Personally prefer the PU version, but will get the patent if its going to make a significant difference :)

Please help! Will SO appreciate it :)

Help! Pole dancing boots, PU or Patent?
PU will give you a better grip on the pole, although some PU boots give you more grip than others. Shiny boots tend to give more grip compared to the non shiny type. Pleaser USA boots come highly recommended. They have been tried and tested by pole dancers and all have given good feedback on the grip.

Whether you choose ankle boots, knee high or thigh high boots also will reflect on the grip.

Ankle boots are preferred if you only need some help with grip or want some protection against scrapes and bruises on your feet.

Knee high are versatile. They give full grip on the calf area but still leave space for your thighs to grip the pole. Ideal for climbing the pole as they are easy to grip the pole and easy to bend your leg at the knee.

Thigh high boots look very sexy but beware you may have to break them in as they may be a little stiff behind the knees at first. They give protection when needing to grip with the knee area. http://www.isntshepretty.co.uk/prodview....

Hope you find yourself some pole dancing boots soon :)
Reply:You're defo right to go with the boots - much nicer!

As for making a 'significent difference'? Dunno, maybe you'd get more tips in the patent?

(*I* like the patent lol)

But up the pole? Patent might be a bit stiff to wrap around it and get a grip...PU wouldn't take so long to 'break in'.

(Praps I can help you? lol)

Sorry, sweets, not much help am I?

But then, I'm not a pole dancer...

Basically, get the ones you'll feel nicest in....

(But *I* like the patent hehe ;)

Do you think women's knee boots are OK for guys to wear?

I have several pair of women's knee boots, black suede, brown suede and white leather. I want to start wearing them openly in public. What do you think?

Do you think women's knee boots are OK for guys to wear?
Uh, why would you want to wear women's boots anyway? Don't do it, unless you are prepared for varied reactions from people.
Reply:yeah go ahead, women wear nikes and jeans so go head and wear them
Reply:seriosly? r u sure? well, DONT!!!!!!! r u crazy?

Reply:Are you ready for what people's reactions will be towards you? I think that if you are asking this sort of question in a forum of this sort, the answer is no. If you are confident and ready for the world's reaction then go ahead and wear them. Otherwise, you should keep your women shoes in the closet, both figuratively and literally.
Reply:Surely you jest!
Reply:I agree with bonnie ( above answer ).

GO FOT IT. Who cares what the public may think ? After all, they are public and you don't even know them so why should you give a rats what they think in the first place anyway ?

Your boots would look GREAT with some tight leggings. You would look hot, they will make your legs and the boots look longer and outline the curve of your thigh.

It's up to you what to wear on top and whether or not to show off your "package", but whatever you prefer. I would love to see you in boots and leggings............ let me know how you go...........
Reply:i really think it is ok. but be prepared for what the public says to you when they see you. i think you should go for tight black knee high boots with a wedged heel or tie up boots round your ankle. red boots look rather nice on some men. just make sure your comfortable and the heels aint too hogh for you. dont listen to the public if its what you want to wear then go for it. i would.
Reply:go for it, will u wear with tights?
Reply:well, if you're a cross dresser or something along the lines of that, they it's fine, as long as it matches the outfit you're wearing. but for straight guys to wear? I'm not sure it that's the best idea. I personally don't think I'd dig a guy wearing womens boots.

What type of boots should I get?

I am a Master at Arms in the US Navy and will heading to my first command. I need a good, reliable, long lasting pair of boots for work. I want them to be comfortable, have a durable sole and have a shineable leather surface (at least the toe of the boot).

What type of boots should I get?
What about Navy issue? You start getting too individualistic and you may not pass inspection.

If I may, I suggest you wait until you get to your command. Depends on where it is. Adopt the toughest shoe they allow. If it's not standard issue, go online and order it.

Synthetic uppers do the shine thing better, but can be unbearable in a hot climate... same with steel toes. In a REAL warm climate even the wax melts and you can lose your shine. Deck plates can wear soles out fast if you don't pick your feet up. Those little metal reinforcements can tear up a wooden or linoleum floors... not good if you're on shore much... as I said, wait until you get there.

I was in the Navy a while... not MA. Not aboard ship much, but in a variety of environments. The only time I worried about my shoes was when I was at the Pentagon the first time. Just follow the lead of the others who've been there. First assignment? And you're worried about shoes? Relax, guy. You'll do ok.
Reply:Personally i love my magnum boots.

You can go to quartermaster.com or galls.com and find a very large variety of boots. But you will want to find out if your new command has any specs they want to have meet when it comes to boots.
Reply:Get to your first assignment before you buy anything. Your command may have regulations as to which boots you will be allowed to wear, and will probably issue the ones they want you to have. Since you are an MA, many units want their personnel to be matching in everything they do and wear.

Although if you get the choice I would go with the Corcoran 2 field boots, or the Corcoran Marauders.
Reply:You'll be issued boots at your first command. Depending on the weather you'll either be issued tropical combat boots, or boots meant for cold weather. I haven't spent dime on boots at any command I've been. Every command you go to will have the uniforms and boots issued to you. Under supply regulations, uniforms and boots are replaced by the command. The cammies are issued and so are the boots, as well as the body armor. Save your money for other things.
Reply:Cochran II
Reply:My issued Bellevilles do me just fine, I'm the ground-pounding type (CM3), and I swear by one pair for work and another for inspections.

Boots question for Bi men or gay men?
just buy the boots and put them on. when you see your man again, ask him this 'hey baby, do you like my new footwear?' if he does, ask him whatelse he would like you to wear. if not then you know that he doesnt like them.
Reply:glad to help, and let me know how it went ok? Report It

Reply:here's what you do. go to an adult store/leather shop/etc and show him the boots or pictures of guys wearing them. gauge his reaction. you'll know if he's into it.

regardless, if you like it, go for it. even if he isn't completely enamored with the idea of the boots you like, if he cares for you, he will support you in it.

What are those cloth boots called?

Does anyone know what I mean? You wear them with skinny jeans or skirts, and they look like they're made of cloth - they're cool, usually with funky prints on, and they only cover the ankle. They have no heel, and I'm highlighting that I don't think they're slouch boots, as they're not made of leather or suede - it looks more like cotton. I got my favorite pair of boots from Austin,Texas in 1978,I am 47,I was 19 then,my boyfriend at the time[Smokey]was a rodeo champ. He got me a pair of lizard skin Justins, they are a reddish brown and they fit like a glove,I love them and still get compliments on them, they still look great after almost 30 years!I wear them all the time with some Levis and cute T- shirt, and my Turquoise,I am Cherokee so I look pretty hot like that! I have actually posed wearing just my boots on my horse,Diablo!By the way I love your question, some people are to dumb and lazy to try!
Reply:My favorite boots are my black knee boots. I've had them for almost two years. Nothing fancy, smallish heel, zippers, but they are comfortable and work with many winter outfits. I've never been caught in just my boots. (well, just once, and I wasn't trying to evade!) I obsessed over a pair of silver boots once, for about a month. Until I realized that I would hardly ever be able to wear them! A friend of mine had some boots that came all the way up to the top of her thigh, with a buckle, that I was intensely jealous of. I love boots!
Reply:My favorite pair of boots are my Whites Boots, made in Washington state, by hand. They are 12" tall, with a two inch heel, and knobby lug soles. My husband gave them to me as a gift. When I first saw them I thought, "God, I can't wear these butt ugly boots". But they are so comfortable. They are black fireproof leather, with Kevlar stitching and laces. Steel toe. Real kick *** boots.

they zip up the side... I wear them with jeans on the weekends mainly.... A dear friend got them for me. Black, and they are like 3

years old we both got a pair for a special night with some bad boys.

They are so comfortable..... Never been caught in just boots thou.
Reply:I have a pair of black boots. They come up just above the ankle, they zip up the side. They go great with black pants or jeans, I can wear them to work. They have a pretty high heel on them, and I'm pretty petite, so they give me the "illusion" of being about 3 inches taller than I am. They do not have a pointy heel, but it is just pointy enough to be considered "sexy". They are very comfortable and I wear them all the time. Again, because I am petite, my pants are generally too long. The boots keep the pants from dragging the ground. There have been a couple of instances {gasp!} that I have been caught wearing just my boots.... It was actually pretty fun.

2nd favorite pair, also black, a little taller, good to wear with skirts in the fall and winter.

Knee high boots for the short & skinny?

I'm looking for recommendations on knee-high boots (brand, store, or specific style). I am 5'1" with 30cm calves. I have looked @ duoboots.com since they have my calf size, but I don't really like the shorter designs they have that they say are a good fit for petites. I don't know if their regular knee high styles would end up being thigh high on me.

Can anyone can suggest where to find more of these shorter knee-high boots for the vertically challenged? Here's a description of the boots I am looking for:

1) black leather

2) short heels (can't wear heels over 1.5" due to foot problems)

3) women's size 7 (38 European)

4) would last a couple of years of normal use

5) goes w/ pants %26amp; skirts (and also dresses, preferably)

6) not the kind made wide for tucking pants in (I never do that)

Also if anyone knows more about whether there's a chance the non-petite Duo boots would fit, let me know. I'd say my legs are of a regular length for my height, not unusually short or long.

Knee high boots for the short %26amp; skinny?
Knee boots are great for short women. I'm 5' and have some black knee high 4 inch stilettos that help my height and i get compliments often. Sorry about the foot problem, but Zappos would be the first place to look... :)
Reply:I don't think high knee boots are good for short people in general because it will make you look more shorter. Wear calf length boots.

Hey guys, what is a good way to break in new shoes/boots.?

My friend has the exact same pair of boots that I have. The upper leather is extremely soft and flexible. The sole is also very flexible. How can I get mine like that. Mine hurt my feet so bad. His are way more comfortable.

Here is the pair we have.

Hey guys, what is a good way to break in new shoes/boots.?
If you don't want to spend money on taking it to a shoe business, I'd recommend wearing them everyday and all day until they start softening up. I have that exact same pair and it took a while to break them in, but they are nice and comfortable for me to wear all day. They're so comfortable that I leave them on all day.

-Wear them all day

-Flex them while you're wearing them

-Walk with them
Reply:Go to a shoe store and let them do it for you. There is one at Sunset Ridge on N. New Braunfels between Austin Hwy and Eisenhower.
Reply:I have a small ranch also and wear boots a good part of the time. What I find works best it a two fold process. first soak them down really good and then insert a boot stretcher and leave it in until the boot dries completely. While using the boot stretcher be careful to not over do it, just a little bit, you don't want to over do it so just a little bit and you can repeat the process if it isn't enough. boot stretchers aren't very expensive and they hold the shape of the boot
Reply:maybe leather conditioner can help speed up the process, but wear them every chance you get perhaps thick socks can help ease the pain
Reply:In order to break-in new shoes/boots I have found this to be very effective. You first bend the shoe or boot all the way back to front. Then take the shoe/boot and bend backward all the way to halfway. Try it
Reply:The best way to break in boots is to get them wet while wearinging them. I have a ranch and wear boots all the time. the way we break them in is to walk into the creek or spray them with a hose . Walk around while they are wet and they will loosen up. after 2 or 3 times they will fit perfectly to your foot.

Knee boots too tight on calves how can i stretch them?????

Many thanks x

Knee boots too tight on calves how can i stretch them?????
I apoligise for my rude answer i was taking the fact that i am having a bad day out on my answers, not right i have edited it and once again i am really sorry
Reply:They will stretch with wearing

Get your boyfriend to wear them for a day or two - that should do it

He'll learn about the pain girls suffer to look good at the same time lol
Reply:If you find you have this problem a lot maybe invest in some boot stretchers, they are like plastic or wooden devices you leave in your boots when not wearing them they expand and help to stretch the leather.. Id start wearing the boots without the jeans tucked in to start with just to get them loosened up to fit you actual calfsthe warmth from your skin and the weather conditions will all help to start getting them more supple
Reply:send them back and buy a pair in your size!!!!!!!!
Reply:Get them wet, stuff with a towel or similar and leave to dry.
Reply:try puttung the pig back in its skin
Reply:if you sit on the ground and strech your legs out in front of you and strech to your toes pulling them back so it lengthens your muscle....do 20 reps of that each day and you should notice your calves fit into the boots better

Paint removal from boots?

Ok, so I asked someone to dye a pair of boots for me, but instead she put latex house paint on them. The boots are the Corcoran Marauder style with leather toe and heel, and either cotton or nylon everywhere else (more or less). The paint is comming off of the leather areas just fine (where it could actually stay, as far as I'm concerned), but has deeply penetrated (not all the way through) the fabric, making it stiff, gummy, and, critically, ruined its vapor permeativity. My tentative plan is to soak the boots in OOPS for a day or two and then wash them out a few dozen times. My concern is that the OOPS may degrade the fabric or rubber soles, or otherwise destroy the boots. Does anyone know what to expect, or have any better ideas for getting the paint out? I had the boots custom made when I was in Korea, and would like to recover them if possible.

Paint removal from boots?
thats really funny is she daft or what

latex house paint can be degraded with ammonia/windex or denatured alcohol

I would not use anything stronger than that and I would do it by hand no soaking
Reply:WD-40 spray lubricant should work for getting the paint off your boots and this will not harm the leather and it will penetrate and add water repellency it will also soften and protect and remove paint, just spray on and leave for about twenty to thirty minutes then remove with a cloth or old sponge when paint is removed you will see that the paint has darkened the leather as house paint is full of chemicals that hard materials can only withstand, the person that did this to your boots has deffinitely ruined your boots so they will never be the same again Good Luck !

Cowboy boots ? are they bad ?

i got these cowboy boots on ebay they looked like in great condition and were very pretty ... but it didnt say if it was leather so im worried i knoww some boots are very cheap for riding and can hurt you it was a light soft pink boot im worried there not good cause i got em for 10.99 ?

Cowboy boots ? are they bad ?
I'm afraid with Ebay you never really know what you're getting. For 10.99 I wouldn't expect thew same kind of quality you'd find in a $300 pair of Frye boots. Worst case scenerio I'd just wear them with some thick socks.
Reply:i have leather boots for riding that only cost me £15

try wearing them once and if they hurt or generally aren't much good, you might want to consider getting proper ones
Reply:if they are just for riding i would worry about it PLUS u got them for cheap so if they arent good enough its not like u spent a LOT of money on them...

What is the brand of my boots??

I had a pair of brown lace up boots that I loved and when I moved to Hawaii I lost them. I would like to get a new pair but I don't know the brand. The boots had a very distinct orange leather lining. Bright orange. I bought them at Journeys like 4 years ago and I remember when I bought them clerk told me it was a spin off of Dr. Martens. Whether that's true, no clue. They where a past the ankle boot with like 8 grommets and a distressed brown color but I think the lining is the giveaway. I don't know what the intended gender was but I think they were for women but not sure on that either. Please help!! I live in Seattle now and need something that will stand up against the weather. I know its silly but I miss my boots. :(

What is the brand of my boots??
hmm maybe harley davidson? heres a link...

My new Boots??

Okay so for Christmas I got this pair of boots from aeropastale. They are kind of like fake uggs, but they are just boots, about shin high, tan, and leather. They do have this thing to them...its kind of like loose fabric...well i dont know how to explain it but...are they in or out?

My new Boots??
i have 2 colors of uggs... they are really in! so if they look like uggs, i'm sure they're fine.. and i bet they're comfortable! uggs are like slippers.. ahh i love them =]

Woman wearing mens motorcycle boots??

All the motorcycle boots for women are plain black leather. Are there any bad things about wearing a mens motorcycle boot? What about size? What size would a woman wear in a mens boot?

Woman wearing mens motorcycle boots??
I wear mens boots. My feet are wider and they fit better, the only thing I have found is the shins are a little longer. Just go try them on. I normally wear an 8 in womens which = a 6 in mens, but my last pair of men's Quadrants were a 7.
Reply:Try them on. If the boot fits....ware it
Reply:The important thing is how the boot fits your foot. The tag doesn't matter. Women's sizes run about 2 sizes smaller than men's. A woman's size 9 would be about a men's 7. Best thing is to try them on. Size 9 in one brand could be same as size 8 in another. Width can vary too.
Reply:If they fit your feet and are good protection, that's all that matters.
Reply:I'm pretty sure you would subtract two sizes from whatever women's size you wear, and that's your men's size.
Reply:If the sizes are US sizes, subtract 1.5 from the Men's size to get the women's size. (This works for Converse tennies too!)
Reply:Mens feet are different... wider heels are the most noteable. You'll be more comfortable in a Womens specific boot...

Thankfully the best boot maker out there has a womens line with more than just black (not much more, but still). Look into Sidi boots, not cheap ~ but they'll last you Most of a lifetime. I'm a decade and about 150,000 miles out from buying my last pair of boots ever... ;)

http://www.extremesupply.com/sidi/sidibo...

Look to the bottom of that page, and if you search around on those models, you can sometimes find another color/color combination. My wife Loves her Violet Tepors (in brown).
Reply:I do not have the need to wear these kinds of boots, but my cowboy boots are boys. My kids are to big for this section of the boots, but I am not lol!

The sizes do run differently, so try on the boots. I find mens anything are made much stronger and they last longer then female anything. If the clothing has women on it more then likely it will not last...
Reply:Women's shoe sizes run two sizes smaller then men's (i. e., a man's size 9 equals a woman's size 7).

Maybe they do this so women don't feel Sasquatchian.
Reply:there is anything wrong if women are to wear a men riding boot as long as the size fit.

women sizes would normally be 1 and a half size to 2 size down compare to the men feet chart. example : men boots size 6 will be a women boots size 8.

Width of the shoe also play a part. Men width normally wider and womens are narrower.

therefore do look out on the wide as well.

A question about boots and chaps for english....?

I recently purchased these boots: http://www.horse.com/products/sku-ERA17....

because my old ones were falling apart and I needed cheap, new riding boots. Now I am a bit afraid to ride in them because they are a brand called Peris or something and on the botton before the heel, they have a hard material (plastic I think) that looks like wood, but is only a thin layer because on the side there is rubber. Is that good or bad to have that hard layer on your boot?

For Christmas or when I save my money, I'd like to get a better pair of boots in the $150 and lower range. As of now I am a beginner/intermediate range in my riding skills and the highest I will be jumping is 2'6" and I ride about three days a week. I would prefer synthetic leather, but real leather is good also. Is there any boots you recomend that are really nice and durable for getting wet and doing schooling/4h shows in?

Also I have more about chaps below...

A question about boots and chaps for english....?
I'm a fan of Ariat boots as well. I've had a couple pairs, one of which I've had for several years, and plan on buying a new pair soon... not because the old ones wore out, but because my feet grew about a half size last year and the old ones don't fit me anymore. They're durable, incredibly comfortable, and neither my paddock boots or ropers needed to be broken in at all, they were just as comfortable brand new as they are now. My paddock boots have been through some horrible rainy seasons (we had a couple summers where the majority of the pastures and arean were flooded for months.) I didn't take proper care of them, so the leather's a bit stiff and beat up looking now, but otherwise they're still great.

Ariat makes some really pretty half chaps also... never tried them myself but they look very comfy and stylish.
Reply:I LOVE Ariats, both tall and paddock. They are comfortable, and virtually indestructable. Everyone in my barn wears them!
Reply:My daughter wears the Peris boots - same ones you linked to. She's had three pair now and refuses to train in anything else.

I did get her to buy a pair of Ariat Terrains for the trail riding and basic ranch days - but when it comes to training and hunter/jumper she must have them Peris paddocks.

As for Chaps, her's are the ones from stateline with the little pony on them - they have lasted 2 years sofar.

I wear SHIRE half chaps and love them but for $89 they aren't as good of quality as my daughters $30 pair.

We have had both velcro and zip. The velcro collects lint and stops working, but they are nice for multipal use like in schooling barn. The zip you need to be sure fit securely.

Our personal prefference are the zipper half chaps
Reply:Those nubs on the boots are called spur rests, dont worry about those they will do no harm.

I reccomend Ariat paddock boots. I have had mine for 7+ years and they are still going strong. As far as show half chaps I use the Ariat half chaps that have the leather on the outside and the suede on the inside. I got mine on e-bay for $60 but they retail for $100.
Reply:I would go with Ariat paddocl boots (zip up) and ariat chaps. They are both only about $100.
Reply:I go by the rule that you get what you pay for most of the time with horse products, be it saddles, bridles, breeches, etc. Especially when you are talking boots...if you get quality leather boots and half chaps, they will last you a long time - much longer than any synthetic will. I always just wear some tennis shoes or muck boots to clean stalls and such and only ride in my boots to keep them from getting nasty. Like a lot of posters recommended, I also like Ariat paddocks...I have the Heritage II zip paddock boot(around $100) and they are nice, but get a 1/2 size larger than you usually wear. I also have the Ariat All Around half chaps(around $90) and they are very nice and will stand up to a lot of use.

Oh, and I think the other thing you are describing is a spur rest and most boots, both paddock and tall, should have them.

As for showing, you are going to present a much more polished look if you get tall boots. There are so many different types of field boots that you can find affordable ones that fit well. I got a nice pair of Ariat field boots on clearance for around $150. And back zippers are a blessing for fitting/pulling on problems! If you ever want to show outside of what you are doing now, you must have tall boots because many places will not allow you to show without them. It's just a part of the sport(and yes it can be fairly expensive) to be properly attired and show your respect for the judge, the sport, and the horse by being properly turned out when you show.
Reply:I like Ariats (around $150) for both riding and working in because they are comfy and the metal arch is good for your feet. Those boots you already have look fine and should be ok for what you need until Christmas.

As for chaps, I've always had mine custom made especially half chaps so that they fit well but some from Stateline or Valley Vet would work just fine. You don't have to break the bank.
Reply:Dublin leather jodhpur boots, they are awesome, also Jackson Leggings for chaps, the combination goes well.
Reply:What is it about synthetic that makes you want that instead of leather?

I've had the same pair of paddock boots for 4 years and they're leather. Its about care and cleaning.

Synthetic does not conform to the foot like leather does so you will never get a good fit from a synthetic boot.

Someone else said If you invest in a good pair of tall boots you won't have to buy halfchaps-- this is VERY True. Also its completely against ettiquette to show in half chaps. That's a no-no.

If you plan on showing (even schooling shows) then you will need tall boots (unless you're doing young hunters, where paddock boots and leg bands are ok as a novice.)

If you've already paid for and recieved these boots, then you should goahead and break them in by wearing them around the house, etc, before you try to ride in them. (nasty blisters otherwise!) If you can, I'd send the boots back and spend a bit more on a nicer pair that is real leather.

I think you'll be a bit happier in the long run!

Schooling/practicing in halfchaps is 100% ok. But invest in some tall boots to show in.

***

You said that yoru boots smell after you use them for barn work- this will happen to both leather AND Synthetic if you don't take care of them.

And yes, you CAN get leather wet. I don't know who told you all this nonsense.

You should pre-treat all ofyour leather with a water conditioner prior to use. And just like a saddle or bridle, you should wipe down your boots with a rag after every use. This will keep them lasting longer, make the leather supple, and it wipes away any 'smells' that you don't want.

I can promise you that my boots, again VERY old, have been wet, mucked on, poo'd on, pee'd on, puked on by dogs, etc, and b/c they are rinsed and wiped off after every use, they are still fine.

I paid $100 for my ariats, but they are an investment. They last for 4-8 years as other people have mentioned. So consider that a $25 pair of boots each year-- this is STILL cheaper than your synthetics which will have to be replaced yearly b/c they are poor quality.

A good pair of boots is the difference between a bruise and a broken toe. A good pair of boots is the lifeblood of a good horsewoman. You can walk miles, chase a horse, muck stalls, clean tack, squat, bend, kneel, run, jump, skip, you name it in a good pair of boots.

Regarding your show conditions, I really hope that you understand this is NOT acceptable in the real horse world. I have NEVER been to a barn where it is acceptable to show in pajamas. That is 100% disrespectful to the judge and to your competitors. If you were my student and that happened, we'd have a long talk about why you want to show.

Showing is turning yourself out and your horse out at your best. Not your half-hearted attempt. It is not an attempt to show off but *maybe* getting around to taking a shower that day.

4 h shows prepare the rider and horse for how to work in a larger more 'rated' show environment. Schooling shows are 'practice' for you and your horse before you go to larger shows. These are SHOWS and you should turn yourself out in nice, refined attire.

I may not always wear a shirt and jacket, but I show up in a nice polo, clean britches, and polished tall boots. My horse may not be braided every time, but he is neat, tidy, and well groomed and he presents himself well to the judge.

Boots do not have to be synthetic to present yourself nicely to the judge, but showing in half-chaps is considered rude and disrespectful. Again, if you aren't interested in tall boots, look into leg straps (hunters equitation only) but these are not acceptable beyond novice.

If you plan on ever showing outside of your immediate circle where this behavior is acceptable (I promise you that its not acceptable elsewhere) then you WILL need to invest in a pair of tall boots. Or convert to western. Those are your options.

A good pair of tall boots will fit your correctly and whatever 'issues' you have with them will be gone. I still have my first pair of tall boots which are almost 10 years old now. They still are excellent for show and I clean them after each use. They are going great and fit like a glove. Again, $500 but an investment piece that has lasted quite a while.

You don't have to spend $500 on tall boots or even $150. Andyou don't have to spend $100 on paddock boots. But you do need to spend a bit more on something that is safe and will last you more than a few months.

You also have to understand that if you REALLY Want to show, then you need to understand that there are required dress codes. Maybe your immediate show circle is very lax and doesn't enforce these things, but the minute you get a guest judge or you travel to another show, you will be subject to the show rules of normal horse society.

We're not snotty, we just like to be respected. And riding in pajamas, using your example, is not respectful of me (as a judge) or my experience, my wisdom, my opinion, or the TIME I took to be there to judge you. *shrug*
Reply:As long as you are comfortable when you ride and that your boots and chaps allow you proper movement (they don't hinder your movement in other words) ride in what you want to!

As for fit on the boots, I've found through the years that if you soak them in hot water for about 10 minutes, then wear them immediately and all day long until they dry, they will mold to your leg. Sounds wild but it works every time (until such time you can afford real hand made boots).

There are tons of boots in your price range, it is most important for you to get to a large tack store and try them on for fit. As for your current boots, if they are stiff in the ankle, keep working this area with a good boot cream with a lanolin base and they will soften up in time. Make sure that you always keep boot forms in them when you are finished with them for the day, this will keep them from collapsing and causing blisters later on.
Reply:If you use tall boots, you can eliminate the need for half chaps!
