How long should Ariat tall dress boots last?

So I bought a pair of Ariat tall dress boots last year for $400. I have worn them 14 times and I do take care of them with polishing and washing them. The leather on the heel got all torn up and I have had to take it to a leather repair guy twice and he didn't do anything. Infact he made my zipper break because I know it wasn't broken when I asked him to repair the leather. Anyway how long should they last? Do you think I could get a refund on the boots or a new pair?

Thank You!

They should last awhile. I got a pair and I've woren them longer then taht and they are in like new condition! So I would return them and try to get a new pair.
Reply:Charlotte's in Tomball Tx knows a man who can fix your Ariats. Ariat recommends him. I've had my Ariat work boots for 10 yrs they take a ton of abuse, your boots should last at least half that! Contact Ariat about the problem. Maybe they will recommend someone in your area for the repair. Report It

Reply:My tall boots are ariats and are holding up great, but they're the pull-on kind. It seems that zip up boots in general have zipper breaking problems. I've known a lot of people who had zipper breakage after less than a year of use. I think I'll just stick with the normal kind, it seems to happen so much. If the boots aren't that old, I'd imagine they'd fix it if you called them up.
Reply:Well, that depends on how the heal got tore up???

But, I have owned Ariats, not the kind described, but I wear the heck out of them and more times than not, they get soaked in mud, dry out, and get worn 7-8 hours a day. These not getting oiled or really taken care of, not my "good" boots you could say:). Typically they will last almost a year. So.... 14 times and taken care of???

If you damaged the heal, well then no, but if you are talking the INNER boot. THE HEAL COUNTER... this should be replaceable by "faulty" guidelines, might take some complaining though.
Reply:Ariat's boots are gauranteed. They should last years and years with using them everyday. Call them directly and explain the situation. They should work with you.
Reply:I bought mine used at horse fair. I have had them for 3 years now and they were used before i got them. so they should last for a while especially if they are leather.
Reply:well when your around horses your boots are gonna get scuffed up you should save those boots for when you show and get another pair for just around the barn. I've had my boots for like 2 years and they still look good.
Reply:Properly cared for, a good pair of riding boots willl last many years. My favorite boots are nearly 10 years old and aside from a few scuffs, still look great. Dress boots might be less forgiving with some of the wear and tear since we want them to always look like new, but it sounds like your shoemaker is the problem, not the boots. Fortunately, most of the problems you are talking about are easily taken care of by a competant bootmaker. You can have the heels (which can get pretty beat up if you wear spurs) and the zipper replaced. But definately, get yourself someone else to fix your boots because this guy doesn't sound like he knows what he's doing.
