I have got a pair of boots which has the normal stiffleather till the ankle & for six inches there is cloth?

with laces ...what kind of boots are they called??the sole is also thick leather

It sounds like a New Market boot, which is the summer version of a field boot. The cloth is to help cool your leg.
Reply:The shaft of the boot is supposed to be thin so you can feel the horse, and vice versa. The shank is rigid to give support. If they have laces and are 6" high, they are probably paddock boots.

Reply:They sound like the calvary boots you see on some jumper riders. or just some variety of field boots.
